Santorum: Don't put intelligent design in classroom
Edited on Sun Nov-13-05 10:19 AM by ps1074
BEAVER FALLS - U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum said Saturday that he doesn't believe that intelligent design belongs in the science classroom.

Santorum's comments to The Times are a shift from his position of several years ago, when he wrote in a Washington Times editorial that intelligent design is a "legitimate scientific theory that should be taught in the classroom."

It surely sucks being Rick Santorum. 1 year away from the midterms he is 15 points down to Bob Casey. Last week Santorum refused to join Chimpy on his PA visit and now he tries to distance himself further from Bush.

I doubt he will fool the PA voters this time. This guy represents the extreme mullah wing of the republican party and his ass should be voted out next year.

2. Can we say "political opportunism"?
Talk about a complete lack of principles. I would actually have more respect for him if he held onto them, no matter how wrongly, out of personal conviction, rather than abandoning them when it looks like they may get in the way of his hopes for reelection.

Does the man have any principles at all, other than his own power?

Santorum will place his change of heart squarely on the Vatican which recently was quoted as not teaching intelligent design in classrooms

he's going to get his ass handed to him next year and has only a relatively few short months to convince voters he's not really a right-wing whack job after all. Sorry, Rick. You bought it. You own it.

10. With a wink & a nod to his born-again supporters.
There's no way in hell that Santorum would have made this statement were it not for the Dover vote getting rid of all the ID supporters on their school board. The man has contempt for public schooling - that's why he supports the No Child Left Behind act, and his litter is educated over the internet/at home. And I have no doubt he is telling his loooooooonngg time fundamentalist supporters that it's OK for him to lie to all us heathen constituents in order to get re elected, and that in his heart of hearts, and immediately after the election, he will continue his support of all efforts to drag religion into the political arena and tell the rest of us how to live,

Get the message back to this sanctimonious excuse for a public servant. This abrupt change in political philosophy will not fly in Pennsylvania.
