22. Mark Warner is Presbyterian, Tim Kaine is Roman Catholic
both are pro-choice and we're all pro-life. (All Democrats anyway).

11. Personally, most of us ARE prolife... Are there any pro-abortion ppl here?
What's the point? This is what I don't like about the political discourse and the politicians who yield to such a discourse... being pro-choice and pro-life is not mutually exclusive. Being pro-choice gives you a right to go choose for yourself whether you are pro-life or not, rather than letting your government choose that for you.

14. Hear, hear!
It's another example of the Dems letting the Repugs define the topic.
Some people are pro-choice, and the rest are anti-choice. Let's call it like it is.

29. Thank You!!
I NEVER use the term pro-life when speaking of these "anti womens rights activists".
The opposite of Pro-Life is Pro-Death and that does not describe me or anyoe else I know.
Stop letting them define our position on this issue!

running for Gov of PA? They are pro-life and I think to them it means they don't approve of abortion.

32. Correction about Bob Casey, Jr., he is running for Senator vs Santorum:
Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 12:40 PM by win_in_06
IgnatiusInsight.com: You are described as a pro-life Democrat. Would you explain your stance on the death penalty, abortion, and embryonic stem cell research and human cloning?

Casey: I believe that being pro-life means the right to a decent life for a mother and her child before and after birth.

I am and I have always been pro-life.

3. Yeah, your little sister does!
He said that because he's a Catholic, the tenets of his faith forbid abortion and the death penalty.

HOWEVER, he continued to say that that is his own personal belief, and has nothing to do with the laws of the land, and people's right to think and behave differently.

So STOP WORRYING!!!!

8. Of course we're all pro-life with equal value
placed firmly on the vault of personal freedom to choose how and when to act on that concept. Then there's that need to find a definition of pro-life without contortions regarding war, death penalties and failure to aid humans in need of life-saving sustenance and education for the fulfillment of their own lives.

13. Warner and Kaine are pro-choice, but personally pro-life
Kaine's platform is very Catholic. He wants to reduce abortions by improving access to healthcare, education, and adoption. I believe he supports contraceptives too, as do I, but that goes against our faith.

I believe Warner holds similar views but he is a Presbyterian.

17. He can be pro-life in his own personal life (ie HE would never have an
abortion if he were a woman), and still be pro-choice as far as everybody else is concerned. Heck if push came to shove I just might be the same. But I've never been pregnant, so I don't know for sure.

Just remember to tell the fundies: Your rights end where my body begins.

Pro-life personally, but does not believe his beliefs should be pushed upon others. He's pro-choice.

He does support partenal notification though.

23. Bottom line: If he doesn't believe in abortion,
he shouldn't have one. Men need to butt out of a Woman's Right to Choose. They are OUR reproductive systems, in OUR bodies. We should have autonomous control over our own bodies!

What is so gawddammed hard to understand about this? Society doesn't tell men that they don't have autonomous control over their bodies -- as a matter of fact, they wouldn't dare! Women are human beings and their bodies should belong to them. THEIR WHOLE BODIES, not just the part the good old boys will allow.

F*CK THAT!

26. He shouldn't even have an opinion. No man should!
Do I get to have an opinion (and have it codified by law) about what you do with your body? No, DAVE, I don't. You have a Y chromosome, and that exempts you from the Old White Boys Club trying to decide about what you can and cnnot do with your reproductive organs.

People have the right to believe whatever they want. That is different from trying to overturn laws to fit their beliefs.
