All those lawyer jokes aren't really funny now, are they?

Well, ok, that one about the shark and professional courtesy, that's funny................

2. Fear not, Lawyer Fair, I will protect thee!!
I've been a court reporter for over twenty years, and I LOVE the lawyers I've come to know. Of the literally hundreds I've worked with, only THREE come to mind who are truly sleazy -- one of whom is currently appealing being disbarred.

I posted this on another thread a few days ago: For the past few years, the saying amongst lawyers here (in Toronto) is:
"Show me someone who thinks lawyers are the lowest form of life, and I'll show you someone who's never had to deal with an insurance company."

Eh, yeah, "I have a conflict of ," right, OLL? No one is going to take on that defense job.

I wonder why the U.S. isn't having the trial in a relatively safe location .. hmmmm ...

4. Even I have to admit that...
... assassination is a good deal more, uh, shall we say, disconcerting than tort reform. :)

You can bet, though, there are a lot of black-humorish lawyer jokes in Arabic circulating in Iraq now... "Ahmed, what do you call a lawyer defending Saddam?," etc.

6. I think Saddam has lucked out
I didn't see in the article how many lawyers were left on his "dream team" but obviously he started off with more than 1100. Can you imagine 1100 lawyers agreeing on anything. If there are even 50 left this trial could go on for years with no result except lawyers arguing with each other. In fact I'll bet the trial is ongoing after the US troops have cleared out of Iraq.

7. I hate that we are going to enable this travesty....
of UNJUSTICE....

Why isn't the world community demanding that in the absence of a true ability to ensure a fair trial that Hussein, et al. be bound over to the World Court? I know, I know, no one wants to cross the bully, Bush* and Company...

THe day Sadaam is hung after some show trial will be among our most shameful days, IMO. (and no, I'm not saying he is not deserving of whatever befalls him... but he does deserve a REAL trial and a TRUE defense)
