I was out of the loop there for a couple of days.

It seemed like a ballsy play, to vociferously attack your opponents and accuse them of revisionism, then to engage in exactly that. Especially at a time when he's walking on thin ice.

Did it fall flat on it's face? I would think it must have.

I was encouraged by the AP article, which gave more space to opponents refutations than his few lame attempts at recasting how things happened.

1. Vigorous Lying = Strong Defense

The truth is in the poll numbers. In the one Rasmussen posted eleswhere on DU, Bush actually has lost more ground since Friday.

Perhaps America's willful suspension of belief in reality is lifting.

2. Interesting. And no doubt
true. I just picked up the latest Time magazine. In there, they go into gruesome detail about how Bush has reached a "crisis", and the American public has now realized this.

They had some pundits give advice on what Bush should do now. It was all laughable because it was ridiculous: "get honest with American, get out of Iraq, face up to your failures and start being successful".

It was ludicrous because none of that is going to happen. Bush is just going to stand up there, pound the podium, talk and blather. He'll watch himself sink.

4. I've noticed a couple of themes
Veteran's Day speeches should be short and uplifting. His was not. He droned on for almost an hour, and was a total downer.

He spent way too much time blaming people for his mistakes--Nixonian.

Mean-spirited.

Political, on a day when politics should be put aside.

And those were the KIND reviews.
