Did I hear right? Did John Dean say Cheney would retire
before the 2006 election? Some mention was made on Stephanie Miller's show this morning. Dean said it on an interview. He thinks Cheney's health and the prospect of a Democratic House and Senate were just too much for the guy.

Sh*t. If that comes to pass, there goes my rosy scenario: in 2006 we sweep the House and Senate and start impeachment proceedings against both Chimp and Cheney, are successful, then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi becomes Madame President!

Anybody know where I can find this interview with Dean?

1. He said that on Olberman the other night
He thinks Cheney is Fitzgerald's mysterious Mr. A.

I hope he's right

2. i don't want him to retire...
...i want him to be an albatross around the necks (or a lead weight around the ankles, if you prefer that metaphor) of repub congressional candidates, and the repub presidential nominee in '08. it'd be hard to use cheney as the poster boy for the republican party if he's no longer in office.

i'm wondering who besides pelosi might be a candidate for speaker if the dems were to regain the house in 2006 (an unlikely scenario, but i can dream).

5. I'm with you
I'm just afraid that if Cheney just leaves Bush will quickly appoint his next VP and we won't get our twofer on impeachment, allowing a Dem Speaker of the House to become president.

Boy, do I dream, too! Think of that: a Dem President and a liberal female at that!

8. And worse, Cheney will be free to go into the private sector and
spend the capital he's raised while in office.

9. I don't care as long as he's OUT
and a Dem is IN.

Look, even with all his cash he can't fool Mother Nature. His heart will give out before he has a chance to enjoy much. It's called "karma". He bad so he get bad.

10. They can't get rid of that albatross that easy.
They can still float a picture of cheney back and forth in ads saying that he is still running the country.

3. well he'd better hurry up and do it in the next 180 days then hadn't he?

Or else his retirement under disgraceful circumstances will amplify not lessen disgust with Republicans among the electorate. There's a good chance that not even 6 months will be enough of a cooling off period for them to forget about it.

4. yea on Countdown he said
he figures Cheney will be retiring (when the shit hits the proverbial fan)"for health reasons" and then took his tongue out of his cheek. The one he forgot was that Cheney would want to be spending more time with his family ala Karen Hughes and Ari and the rest of the cabal

11. Cheney retires to spend more time with his family, namely
His wife Lynne Cheney who writes lesbian fiction, and his 'director of lesbian-affairs' at Coors daughter, Mary Cheney...Hmmm.
What do you suppose put both his wife and his daughter off of Dick?

6. After this, Cheney is toast

"According to The Washington Post, a person familiar with the task force's work said the document obtained by the paper was based on records kept by the Secret Service. The source requested anonymity out of concern about retribution, the Post said."

Wonder if this was deliberately leaked to set Cheney up for the fall.

12. He needs to spend more time with his family.
He's working on making Mary straight.

I hear she winked at Jeff Gannon, just to humor Dad.

Now Dick's got to work on making Jeff straight.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we mess with others' sexuality...
