Couric, Lauer, Russert, Ann Curry, and Norah O'Donnell just "did" Bush and Cheney live on the air.
They lead off with Katie talking not to the camera but to Matt about how the PRESIDENT and the Vice President are taking the offensive on "charges" that they manipulated pre-war intelligence. Matt agrees that they are being rather manly about it. Oh it is the Democrats who are making these accusations not real people, see. No mention of Republicans sort of demanding some sort of accountability and you will be hard pressed to find any mention of the fact that the Republicans cut and pasted a Dem amendment and are claiming it for themselves.
Sorry...now back to our story.
Cut to Ann Curry "President Bush and Vice PResident Cheney delivered a one-two punch to Democrats criticisms that they may have manipulated pre-war intelligence...." Nora O'Donnell is traveling with the President so that she can report his talking points first hand, "Bush...hard line...North Korea....strong words towards Democrats.....anti-war opponents...." cut to Bush getting all toughlike. Cut to Cheney in a tux speaking to a bunch of Neo-Cons (not identified as such).
Finally coming in for the clean up was Russert. Dan Bartlett told him that they are going to go on the offensive, no defense like offense, block and tackle, can't win without scoring, jock is salty, God are they ever manly, gotta score to win and so forth. Oh then Tim and Matt talk about how Woodward's revelations sort of kinda mean that everything that Fitzgerald has ever done in his life is a sham and that this confusion amongst the people could have any relevance what so ever in a court of law but it just might if that is what people start thinking from this sort of damning thing (that no one could have known about BUT Woodward and well Rove) which will play out in public and affect how some people think and what they say about the Libby indictment.
Obviously this is paraphrased but it was full on hard core 7AM eastern whorefest. Be prepared you are about to become immersed in the press trying to cover for themselves and take W along with them.
