1. It was a GREAT DAY
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 11:04 PM by ray of light
He was awesome.

And it was a great day for Dems--with Kerry and Murtha both speaking clearly against the war and presenting PLANS while Republicans still spew crap!

No matter whose plan you think is better the great thing is that Democrats are fighting the Republicans and proving they are trying to end the occupation of Iraq.

And they were both great spokes-people for the cause.

So instead of all the fighting out here, I don't know why people aren't happy to see the Republicans cowering and McCain coming across as "one of them..."

Cheer up DU!

Kerry, Edwards, Murtha, Gore, Clinton, etc are fighting back now.

Let's unite behind all of them! And work together to beat the conmen and their Republican supporters.

never yet a cigar.

You got me to thinking...the Right-wing-a-lings like to tell us that Clinton's actions led to widespread teen-age oral sex. (which is funny every time I hear it) If Clinton had such an influence on teen sex habits, how is it that the cigar thing never caught on and stuff?

He stole the innocence of America's youth and stuff. It's a sad thing.

46. He proudly says he disses Kerry. Which is fine when you have
something to diss him about.

But I've seen Kos go WAY out of his way to diss Kerry, finding ways to spin a story about Kerry negatively even when it wasn't necessary. He takes an almost glee in it.

Dude, the primaries are over.

He has said he thinks Kerry is a decent Senator. He has yet to prove it by me.

I've also seen him diss hippies and feminists, and then post an explanation that pissed them off even further.

He doesn't seem to realizze that his site is as much about those who post there as it is about him. It's a gestalt thing. Without folks on his site posting, he's nothing.

Why don't you save the primary fight for 2008?

Meanwhile, real Democrats can acknowledge that both Feingold AND Kerry are excellent, liberal Democrats. I have not and will never tear down someone as capable as Feingold just to elevate my candidate of choice. What a pity that you cannot be as mature. Karl Rove loves Democrats who try to sow division in the ranks. Congratulations.

Kos is a cancer on the party, just like anyone else who is ripping down ANY of our Democrats - be it Kerry, Feingold, Dean, or Reid - in order to advance their own selfish agenda. Disgraceful.

You just ripped on Kos, a man who raises more money and generates more interest in progressive politics than any other liberal website, hands down. Talk about tearing down your own party...

Kos is BY FAR the most popular liberal blog. They are about 3 times larger than DU. Not that I don't love DU, because this was my first and always will be my home. But please don't show your own hypocricy by ripping on Kos.

EDIT: And by the way, I never said Kerry was a cancer on the party. I do like John Kerry, but for me, he chooses his words too carefully, and rarely speaks from his gut.

You, however, seem to love to throw out baseless insults while erroneously charging others of doing the same.

25. That guy Kerry, is all for the safety of the troops
We know how Kerry feels about *co, because he just took * and Cheney to the woodshed in the last couple days.

When Kerry gets on national propaganda news he doesn't take * to task WHY? because he was not talking to us, he was talking to the people who watch propaganda news.

Kerry walked a fine line to try and get support from the Repugs WHICH WE NEED to get the troops out of Iraq as safe as possible.

While I agree more with Murtha, his way is not a way to garner support WHICH WE NEED to get the kids out of Iraq. Especially when you are on national propaganda tv, talking to the war mongers, that are clueless to most of the "behind the scenes news".

Kerry was flawless tonight in doing just that, getting support, thats why *co was able to put Murtha in to the same category as Michael Moore and not Kerry.

Kerry did not fall in to their trap. (my two cents)

38. He's the MAN!
I'm so proud I voted for him in the NH primary last year. He was the dark horse then, but he came from behind and nearly won the race.

Kerry's got a bit of the devil in him too. He couldn't resist yanking Wolf's chain tonight about 2008. He got Wolfie all excited about having a scoop, but if you listened to Senator Kerry, he didn't say anything that he hasn't said all along. You could tell he enjoyed toying with Wolf though. Can't say as I blame him: the Senator is trying to concentrate his efforts on 2006 and everyone keeps asking him about 2008. A little payback tonight.

It was a great Kerry night! Loved the Hardball interview. It was so very Kerry to decide to play Hardball on his home court. He did the same thing with Wolfie. Great strategy. Bring the interviewer to his Congressional office. Very smart. Remind them that they are speaking with a United States Senator of no uncertain clout. WTG Johnny!

77. I just saw the clip with Wolf Blitzer
And Kerry was excellent. I posted earlier in the so-called anti-Kerry thread and wrote he rambled and didn't leave you with anything memorable to take away from a speech or session like this.

That is generally true but not in the Blitzer segment. The "why would anyone want to give this incomptent administration another chance to be incompetent?" was classic and memorable and the type of sound bite mastery we needed throughout last fall.

good stuff, even (some people disagree)

He's been saying some damn good stuff - on tv, too. (Some people disagree)

Or, they say "too little, too late", or other stuff like that. Fact is, they wouldn't really let him say this stuff on tv before (some people disagree with that, too)

I hope KERRY keeps on saying stuff, and I hope the other dems will keep saying stuff, on tv and stuff, and I don't care which guy anyone wanted, as long as they're saying good stuff. Especially if it's on tv or in the newspaper.

It's all about the stuff we hear they said, and I'm hearing a lot of good stuff....

Just because he works in the US Senate,

94. I'm sure he will be making a statement
on this after the issue has been investigated more thoroughly. John Kerry does not want to go after our troops. He wants to go after the higher ups. Just like the torture issue, this is something that goes back to how this war is being waged by those in charge. Kerry called for Rumsfeld's resignation a long, long time ago. He wants to take Rummy down bad. Senator Kerry operates on the "Iceberg Principle" in that 90% of what he does is beneath the surface. He's got extensive investigative and prosecutorial skills. Don't underestimate Senator Kerry. He is against such weapons, but he has to be careful not to let criticism fall on our soldiers. The people responsible will be called to task. It may take a long time, but it is coming.

147. John Kerry spoke movingly of Robert F. Kennedy at the RFK tribute.
Kerry was older than me, but I share the memory of that time.

He said that for people of his generation it was a lost weekend after the assassination. Until RFK's brother, his colleague, gave a eulogy that helped all know how to remember RFK.

RFK still has tender place in my heart.

Here is the last part of Teddy Kennedy's eulogy for Bobby, which I believe Kerry referred to:

"...My brother need not be idealized, or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life, to be remembered simply as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it.

Those of us who loved him and who take him to his rest today, pray that what he was to us and what he wished for others will some day come to pass for all the world.

As he said many times, in many parts of this nation, to those he touched and who sought to touch him:

"Some men see things as they are and say why. I dream things that never were and say why not.""

All this is especially poignant as we're coming up on the anniversary of the assassination of JFK, Nov 22, 1963.
