2. I like that -
he's explaining how this administration will smear ANYONE regardless of political party. They're afraid......terrified about leveling with the American people about misleading them into war.

:hi:

4. I hope he is not only saying he has a right to say what he did...
But that it is the right policy. I think kerry's "phased withdraw" is quite different.

6. his point is that we should all have an honest debate on it
But the white house would rather play character assassination and swift boat people.

16. That's fine as far as it goes. However,
I am still waiting for support for the policy Murtha announced.

Maybe Kerry will say that some other time. <sigh>

18. And maybe Murtha offered 6mo plan to force GOPs towards compromise
for Kerry's 13-18mo plan?

Pick up on the vibe - Kerry and Murtha have a history of working together on military matters.

There's a current thread posted on their history.

19. It's so nice that he's backing Murtha
against the vicious attacks, but, as you say, where's his agreement that the troops need to be brought home NOW.

How many times has Mr. Kerry gone to Iraq? Murtha's gone a lot, and he knows what he sees.

I'm not impressed with St. Kerry, I have to admit.

25. And maybe they're working together to move a withdrawal plan through
the congress.

Odd that Kerry waited 3 weeks AFTER he submitted his withdrawal plan to get airtime to discuss his plan, and then suddenly Murtha pops up that morning to throw out a vague 6mo plan.

However, their history shows that these two are strong allies who have worked together before on military matters.

I think they expected the swiftboating and planned for it.

I also think Murtha threw out his plan to force Republicans to move towards compromise on the 13-18mo senate plan.

5. About fucking time!
The dems don't have to march in lockstep, but they do have to present a united front if they ever intend to whip the GOP machine.

28. Kerry is elequent but misses the point every time..
whether or not he's carefully parsing his words for political purposes it's a very bad strategy - it was during the last campaign and it's a bad strategy now.

and it makes me enourmously sad and frustrated that Kerry is unable or unwilling to speak simple truth to power.

tell it straight, and tell it simply.

He is either unwilling or incapable of doing just that. I cannot sit by quietly this time while he plays word games, plays both ends of the debate against the middle in this way. This goes to the very heart of the same moral and ethical dilemma that we as a country faced during Viet Nam. Kerry's unwillingness to speak as he did to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971.

Where is that soul today?

29. You obviously did not watch Cspan today, did you? Your attack is so out
of place on this thread. Kerry was clear, concise, and attacked the WH viciously in his defense of Murtha and on the WH Iraq policy.

Try reading the transcript.

Tubes could have been used for centrifuge, they are trying to spin that they had testimony that said the tubes could be used for nuclear power. Giving #s of Dems who voted for the war, I really need to hear a dem say, "WE GOT DIFFERENT INFORMATION FROM THE PRESIDENT!!"

Unfortunately, few media reports deal with that discussion. But there was some spot reports on it - nothing consistent to hammer it home.
