The debate was not just about whether there were WMDs....
As the White House is now saying that everyone thought Saddam had WMDs. But, as the great Senator Robert Byrd attempted to point out to his fellow Democrats, it was about the Constitution. He pulled it from his pocket and quoted passionately that the Constitution did not give the president the right to declare war on his own and that his fellow Senators simply shrugged him off as if he was just a senile old man...

1. I said this!!
At the time, I said the Constitution only gives Congress the power to declare war, and makes no provision for ceding that power to the president. I all but SCREAMED this to my dem friends, who assured me that the Constitution must make it legal, or they wouldn't be doing it.

It's a special feeling, knowing you were right, and that, if you had been listened to, you could have saved 2082 American and countless other nationals lives.

So, what I'm looking for is a party with both a working knowledge of the Constitution, and a collective spine. Is there such a thing?

3. Sometimes "we" ignore the Constitution, or we say it isn't a war, but
a police action, or some other such made up nonsense.

Korea, Vietnam, Iraq.

Perhaps the constitution needs to be amended and clarified to include ...Congress... has the power to declare war, to approve or disapprove a declaration of international police action, or any other war-like engagement or action by the US military.
