DU Challenge - name ONE thing 'pukes have done that doesn't fit the...
...Scroogian philosophy of "Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses!? Yes! Let them die in the streets to decrease the excess population ..."

Secondary challenge: Name the date the Republicans will initiate legislation to create workhouses for the poor, and how quickly they'll ram it through Congress as a corporate benefit.

2. workhouses imply a paternalism ...
... that doesn't exist. Poverty back then was seen as a moral failure. The idea was to rescue the poor from their own idleness and to provide some nuitrition and shelter. As far as the neocons go, this would be an intolerable interference from the state into economic matters. If the poor cannot compete in a would where Sprawlmart makes the rules, then let them die.

5. No wonder they don't believe in Evolution...
Their existence is proof that humans sometimes DON'T evolve. Somehow I can easily imagine Bush in a cave somewhere beating on the ground with a club and belching 'ugh ugh' to Cheney in a fur dress. Perhaps that explains the odd noises coming for the White House from time to time...

6. Well, they've already done the modern version
in the new bankruptcy bill. People who fall prey to it will definitely be "imprisoned" to their debtors. It's just the more evolved (kinder, gentler) version of workhouses.
