5. That's easy
Republicans are immature adults. Do you remember jr. high? Add to that the Religious Right, people who must place themselves above the evil hoards. And then add the military. Without jingoistic tendancies, young barbarians might aspire to not kill.

6. Like the man said...
"It takes guts to be gentle and kind."

Obviously, qualities the Reps are lacking.

The only way Repubs can feel superior to somebody is to 'beat' them in some fashion. Hate is a convenient way to take things out on somebody else.

It also says something about them that they even need to feel superior.

who has to have somebody to beat up on in order to feel powerful (or at least adequate). Unfortunately it's human nature at its worst to hate those whom you fear, and the Reich Wing fears just about everybody who isn't just like them (white, American, Christian, not poor). Manipulating feelings of inferiority, they give the ignorant some scapegoats to hate and look down on; this lets them gain power -- look at how Hitler turned Germany's anger and humilation at losing WWI against the Jews. He made Germans think the Jews were dangerous, the source of everything negative, and used that fear and resulting hate as a main source of his own power. I know people tend to freak out when Hitler's name is mentioned, but we have to be mindful that using hate and fear to feed power is nothing new.

14. I agree....btw, welcome to DU!
Let's make a slogan out of what you posted.

Dems have brought us Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, unions, and liberty, to name a few. All Republicans have brought us are fear and hate.

9. It depends on if you believe that ones free will;
Is good or evil. If you feel that people are basically evil, you tend to be a Republican, and when you watch others experiencing life without fear of others you begin to hate them. This, when transfered to political terms, draws these people together. You need a bogyman and free thinking liberals are the easiest target because, in their free thinking they don't tend to gather together under any dogma. They truly hate us for our freedom and it unties them. Just my opinion, but it seems to run true.

10. Good question, here is my thoughts........
Republicans are a hateful bunch, that is for sure. Living in the reddest of red states, I see it first hand every day. I think a lot of it has to do with their churches. Please attend a Baptist sermon in a red state sometime. You will be treated to some first class hatred. The targets of this hatred are usually Liberals and Gays. Republicans, by and large, seem to be a greedy bunch. They care only about tax cuts. The budget deficit is of no concern to them. They have no compassion for the poor or suffering. Curiuosly, they seem VERY concerned about Iraqi citizens, yet, they consider the Katrina victims to be "whiners" - I've heard that a lot from my right wing co-workers. Republicans also consider Al Gore's and John Kerry's service in Vietnam to be a joke. Yet, they defend Bush's no-shows in the Texas Air National Guard during Vietnam, and they have no problem at all with Cheney's draft deferments. Take this advice from a Liberal living in a red state - these people are scary. They are fanatical in their devotion to President Bush, their religion, (to them, God apparently is a Neo-Con living in the clouds), and all things republican. They are Nazi-like in their beliefs, and no amount of common sense appeals to them.

11. Go to Amazon and search out a little book
titled "The Ninth Wave", by Eugene Burdick--the same guy who wrote "The Ugly American". Burdick wrote this during the early 50's at the height of the reaction to totalitarianism. He proposes the concept of 'two gates'--fear gate and hate gate. Dictatorships keep the populace in control with the gates. Open the fear gate and let fear out into the people. When they are to the breaking point, shut fear and open hate--give the people an object at which they can focus their rage. When I read this in 1967 it made an impact that lasts till now. Think about the Administration now--fear--hate-- eerie, huh?

stem to control others. And hate (fear) is the most efficient & powerful emotion. That way they can get the sheeple to act like sheep and do some of their dirty work. Acting on baser instincts and like adolescents (where they do not do the thinking but follow a leader who will protect them). Thus, they attack like children do. They ignore adult responsibility, might, empathy, integrity, ownership of emotions, intellect and discernment.

Why Nicholas Berg's family firm ended up on an FBI watch list (freepers put it there after a Berg family member attended a peace rally). Why Berg was held by the USA in Iraq for a few days.. and then released after Abu Ghirab was known on the streets of Iraq instead of heading home in the weeks before.

Why the Black Congressional Congress was flooded with freeper hate calls just after Katrina and adult Americans around the country were saying "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS - WE ARE BETTER THAN WHAT IS GOING ON IN NEW ORLEANS".
