What can DU do to help the "Fighting Dems" (Iraqi vets for Congress)
From Daily Kos:

MD-06: Fighting Dem Tuesday -- Andrew Duck
by kos
Tue Nov 22, 2005 at 06:16:58 PM PDT

Tonight's installment of the Fighting Dems features Andrew Duck.

Duck is running against Roscoe Bartlett, who ran against a zero-funded Democrat in 2004 and hasn't been seriously challenged in a while.

The segment will run at around 9:20 p.m. ET, though your local Air America affiliates may have it at different times.

The Fighting Dems series is meant to highlight men and women who worn the uniform and have chosen to run on the Democratic ticket. Turns out there's a heck of a lot more on our side than theirs.

Another similarity is this: Ashe, Duck, Dunn, Murphy, Lentz, and the others are, like Hackett, Democrats. In total, 10 Democratic vets are running, or considering a run, for Congress. (A few more may declare in the coming weeks.) The Republicans, by contrast, can only commit to two. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the organ of the Party establishment responsible for recruiting and running candidates, explains the phenomenon by citing the failures of Republicans in Washington. "We have a Republican-controlled Congress that has failed to provide for troops returning from Iraq, and failed to provide on promises on health care and services for families," says spokeswoman Sarah Feinberg. " are naturally running in an opposite way."

Previous Fighting Dems:

Patrick Murphy (PA-08)
Paul Hackett (OH-Sen)
Bryan Lentz (PA-07)
David Ashe (VA-02)

You can get streams of these segments on Air America's Fighting Dems site.

-----------

Remember that Hackett came so close because of STRONG support from the Internet community. Let's do it again with ALL these "Fighting Dems". They deserve all the help we can give, and the country deserves a Democratic Congress in 2006.
