Will it be Republicans, Democrats, or Democracy? We must choose.

My friends, our democracy has been hijacked. We no longer have a government by the people; we have a government ruled by corporations. And the worst part is that these corporations also control our media, and consequently what we think. But they still don't control the Internet even though they are trying to get that under their control also. This is why their propaganda can still be exposed for what it is.

We are currently experiencing wars of two types – both are quagmires! They are the Iraq war and the Democrat vs Republican political war. The latter is especially heating up since Rep. John Murtha made his recent statements. But this “political war” is another way for the corporations to distract our attention from issues and to label citizens as patriots or non patriots. There is no winning this two-party quagmire. That is because both parties are controlled by corporate money interests. Yes, we can try to regain control of OUR party, but can a political party represent the people for long even if we do? History has shown us that this is unlikely. Unfortunately, a third party will eventually have the same problem.

If we, the people, want any say for our future and that of our country, we must demonstrate sovereignty over our government. We must make democracy a formal declaration that cannot be taken from us bit by bit. When the people demand to be heard on important issues (without having to march in the streets to get attention), all other issues brought up in these forums can be addressed – and changed. Mark my words, this is the most important issue!

I ask DU's members to support and promote the National Initiative for Democracy. This is our only hope for bringing our country again under control of its people. There is no substitute for the collective wisdom of the people.

2. Ouch! Thank you so much
Most other forums require the http:// to be included. I forget that when I post here. I appreciate you pointing this out. Thanks!

3. Democracy has been buried. And I don't believe "We the People"
every did govern. Sounded nice in the Constitution. The only people who were originally allowed to vote were landed property owners. Over half the population has not been allowed to vote in the early 1900's (women and all other minorities). Business has always run this country. But now they own it and are international companies, so they don't need to care what happens at home.

We the People have to wake up, get up and defend ourselves. Looks like it too much trouble to get away from the TV and the shopping centers to do it for most people.

4. How do we wake them up, Pat?
We must tell people about the National Initiative and convince them we, they, all of us can do it.

Everyone I speak to on a personal level says this initiative will never happen. Well, it will never happen unless we make it happen. It is up to us, each and every one of us.

We have been so brain washed to think that we are helpless that we are hog tied by this attitude. And that happened on purpose; that's what those now in charge want us to think.

5. I wish I knew. There are lots of places to start. The National Initiative
is one. Real education in schools is another. Make our country stand for something more important than Reality TV and shopping malls.
