Andrew Card leaves Crawford by plane - smoke forces emergency landing:
Andrew Card's Plane Makes Emergency Landing

(AP) NASHVILLE, TENN. A small, twin-engine plane carrying White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card made an emergency landing in Nashville on Saturday after smoke began pouring into the cockpit, officials said.

"They thought they could be having some trouble with the Avionics instruments but they weren't sure what was causing the smoke," Lowrance said.

The plane left Texas, where Card has been meeting with President Bush at his ranch in Crawford, White House spokesman Ken Lisaius said.

Bush plans to stay in Texas through Monday, when he departs for a two-day trip focusing on border security that includes stops in Arizona and El Paso, Texas.

Did their plan not work? Was it supposed to be more than smoke?

7. Your sig line is making me hungry
I always loved Emerson, Lake & Palmer's version of Jerusalem.
Python's was pretty good too, in the mattress sketch.

9. "Buying a bed"
We listened to this album over and over again in the 1970s:

Verity: Er, Mr Lambert will be able to tell you that. Lambert! Could you show these twenty good people the dog kennels, please?

Husband: Dog kennels? No, no, the mattresses!

Verity: I'm sorry, you have to say 'dog kennel' to Mr Lambert, because if you say 'mattress' he puts a bucket over his head. I should have explained. Otherwise he's perfectly all right.

I always imagined some sort of sexual hangup related to "mattress" on Mr. Lambert's part. Some serious, patriotic music will bring him back...

10. Thanks for the link!
'Jerusalem' is also associated in Britain with boys' private schools, and the Women's Institute (a sort of 'Round Table' organization for women). So you can hang all sorts of sexual hangups on it if you want.

5. Best aircraft maintenance write-up I ever heard of
I used to work on planes, and this reminded me of the funniest write-up I ever heard, "Sounds like little man running up and down the back of the panel." The technician checked it out, couldn't find anything wrong, so he cleared the entry and wrote "Put sneakers on little man, works fine" :)
