Mary Landrieu threatens to hold the Senate through Christmas Break
until she gets commitments from congress that they will help rebuild the levees in New Orleans to withstand a Cat 5 Hurricane. Isn't it sad that such a minor thing as going home for Christmas would force the hand of a U. S. Senator? Its just the right thing to do regardless of the time of year. If we can rebuild Falujah, we can aid in restoring the Big Easy. Go Mary!

1. Let's just hope this woman doesn't
trade an 'aye' on Alito for this.

4. Trading for Scalito will bot surprise me
Unfortunately she has a reputation of being close to a DINO if not truly one. She definitely is a DLC'er which, to me, speaks a lot about her being more about expediencies rather than the democratic party principles.

7. You are right on all counts
however Mary is a flaming liberal compared to the neanderthal moron republican she beat in the last senatorial election. It is a tradeoff we currently have to live with relative to red states. Landrieu and many other dems in the south have to stay close to the center for reelections sake. I shudder at the alternative.

We let a lot of RW Democrats go under the radar, and she is one of them.

I support her on this issue, though.

2. I saw her say that right before the Thanksgiving break. Frist was on
the Senate floor listening so he knows what is coming.

We will see what happens.

Go Mary!

12. I heard her say that on the Floor of the Senate
too. She was telling them about how they were going home to nice Thanksgiving dinners with family and comfy and all, while the hurricain survivors had nothing. Mary told them to enjoy their dinners, because if they didn't do something by Christmas, she said, I promise you, you will not be home for Christmas dinner. (Not a direct quote. It's what I remember of what she said.)

Also, isn't Russ Feingold supposed to filibuster the Patriot Act. He said he would take to the floor and keep reading The Bill of Rights. Whoopee!!!!!!

14. The Bill of Rights is something they want to shred.
Republicans don't like our Constitution or the Bill of Rights, They are both based on Enlightenment principles and not a fundie interpretation of the Bible. The Bill of Rights is evil. ;)
