CA Congressman Doolittle
I'm new to his district. I know he's a shit, but can someone give me a cliff notes version of his dirty deeds. I'd like to write a letter to the editor.

1. We just bought a house in his district recently.
It will be a second home for a while so we won't be voting here but it seems like a very republican area. I know he as been mention in connection with the Abrahmoff scandal.

2. The Abramoff connection is the main thing
Generous donations from Abramoff and a number of his associates and Indian clients went to both Doolittle and his Superior California Federal Leadership Fund. Doolittle held fundraising events in Abramoff's skyboxes without declaring them on FEC forms. One of Abramoff's associates, Kevin Ring, had been on Doolittle's staff back in the 90's and continued to donate to him.

There was also a weird business involving the so-called Cruises-To-Nowhere Act of 1999 (H.R. 313), which was supposed to give the states more control over gambling cruises from their ports but which died in committee. SunCruz was one of the groups testifying against the bill. Doolittle and Ney were both on the committee where it died. This was a year before Abramoff officially got involved with SunCruz, and I've never known whether he was involved in killing the bill, but it does look suspicious.

3. A slightly irrelevant but fun fact about Doolittle and Delay
They introduced legislation against regulating chemicals contributing to the destruction of the ozone layer. (Years ago. Monsanto was the prime beneficiary.) It cracked me up that those two names would tag legislation to put corporate profit above the planetary welfare.

Doolittle and Delay.
