Bush: "I am God's man, at this time, fulfilling His purpose"
Wayne Slater, co-author of "Bush's Brain," on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, talking about Bush believing that he's on a mission from God to bring democracy to Iraq.

Slater claims that sources have told him that Bush has spoken the quote in my subject line ("I am God's man, at this time, fulfilling his purpose") in the Oval Office on more than one occasion.

1. Scary.
They say that when you talk to God you're praying, but when God talks to you it's schizophrenia.

13. I wish God would talk to him
In fact...I wish anyone ever said or did anything "in the name of God" that if it was NOT what God would approve of a big hand would appear and...oh slap them or wash their mouth out with celestial soap or just cover their mouth.

3. He's finally lost it? I don't believe he's any more religious than
I am, and I'm not. I think he's using religion as his scapegoat to get him out of this messed up situation he created.

6. The report was peppered with footage of Bush & Pickles...
...eyes tightly shut, head down. Slater also said that Bush believes this is "his moment."

For the record, and I've said this before...I AM a Christian, but I feel no kinship with Bush. I've never met his "God."

I never want to.

10. I know, B_E_B, I have KO on and saw them. I
think those shots in church are solely photo ops. If the man is spiritual, he surely doesn't show it. He's pigheaded scum. :)

11. Yeah right...God wants George to act on His behalf
to bring a political belief (democracy) to Iraq. Even though innocent men, women and children will die God has instructed George to to this. I am a Christian and George is NOT!

Edited on Tue Nov-29-05 08:34 PM by Sir_Snooze
Hmm...sounds a bit like divine right, no?
When was that around? Oh, about... the freaking 1500's!!
God speaks through George?!? Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

George W(orthless) Bush is not a man of religion. He is worse than Saddam ever was or could be. His (Bushes) tactics are different then Saddam's, but it's the same concept.

George's Plan:
- Scare Americans into thinking the Arabs are coming
- Change the coverage in Iraq to mis-interpret the numbers of dead Iraqis
- Propaganda wars! Tell the public that they need to consume to be happy!
- Enact stupid laws that infringe on Canada's freedoms
- Bring about dumb ideas (missile defense, anyone?)

Yep, looks right.
Stupid Bush!!

16. Maybe this points to his post-pResidential career...
Since he claims God speaks to him directly, he can have one of those TV shows where he begs for money. "God just told me to tell you to send in another $200 -- Hallelujah!"

He could be the next "Farting Preacher."

14. Here's what I think:
I bet Cheney had the White House wired, and, every once in a while, when Fuckface is sitting there, wondering where he is, Cheney whispers into a microphone:

"George, George, this is God. I want you to stay the course in Iraq. Can you say 'Stay the course,' George?

"You are My man, George, and you are fulfilling My purpose. George, George, are you accepting My message?

"George, listen to Me. Drinking a quart of bourbon a night and snorting lines of cocaine are the Mystical Ways in which you can pay obeisance to Me. You must go forth, George, and do this in My name.

"Now, stop trying to blow yourself, George. You look stupid in that position, and I don't care what Karen Hughes told you - it's not yoga. They're just trying to keep you out of the way.

"Go forth, George, and wrap those lips around that bottle. You are God's man.

"Who's your Daddy, George?"

19. I just watched that too. Bu$h singing in church made me want to puke.
Fuck that murdering asshole. The Methodist hierarchy has condemned his damned war. They should ex-communicate Bu$h (I know, I know .. "Diet of Worms", etc.). We don't excommunicate in the Protestant church. Nor do we judge (except the fundy churches, which do judge .. against Christ's admonitions).

If so, is He going to do anything about it?

Considering Smirk's 34% approval rating, maybe He already is.

30. Is it blasphemy to picture God pimpslapping someone?
So as to wipe a certain smirk off of a certain someone's face?

So, are we sure Bush has been coached to talk this way, or does he actually believe he is "God's man"?

32. People have done many horrific things in God's name.
I'm sure the people who hanged Rebecca Nurse at Salem and burned Anne Askew at the stake in Tudor England thought they were fulfilling God's wishes. I suspect some doubted themselves, but it's possible many had Bush's often expressed certainty.

With Bush, there's ample evidence of ruthlessness, vindictiveness, pride, scorn, insensitivity, and greed -- in short, not the fruits of the Spirit, to say the least! Can you imagine Jesus sending someone out to spread vile rumors about John McCain? How about devoting an entire convention to smearing a decorated veteran?

Wayne Slater and his ilk can coo and intone about Bush and his supposed belief in a divinely assigned mission, but I just see the same puffed-up, toxic machismo that we've seen from other wretches in history. May men and women of peace and justice be raised up in our world, and may we be delivered from folly-ridden, short-sighted "leaders."
