This is going to make you smile I think.
Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 01:00 AM by Mountainman
I am a controller at a medical clinic with 23 doctors. Tonight I was at a board meeting with the four doctors that own the clinic. They were talking about how the amount of money they get from Medicare is getting smaller and smaller. They use to get 79% of what they billed and now it is down to around 49%.

My boss who is the COO and a Democrat told the doctors that they should blame the Republicans for that even though most of the doctors are Republicans.

One of the doctors who travels to Washington DC to lobby for the medical profession said that in the past when they wanted a bill passed, they use to go to Republicans but now they go to Democrats. He said the Democrats say to him, "That idea is good for patient care, I'll sponsor it."

2. Good message, and
what the Dems need to do is hammer harder and hammer louder to get their message out. Hell, if folks do not hear what your plan is or at least getting your message out, how are the people ever going to say, I think the Dems have it right....

In 2006 we as Democrats cannot just be a bear...WE GOT TO BE A DAMN GRIZZLEY.....

3. Get the message out all you want
but whatever percentage of the population is tuned into Faux and Pat Robertson will never be tuned into a Dem message one iota, and all that bleeds onto AM radio. Then places like CNN and MSNBC and the networks still feel that insane message has to take up 50% of their bandwidth. I think one on one, the internet, and public meetings are the only way to counter that, and I am not sure how many of those dialed into the Faux echo chamber we can even reach one on one. They are brainwashed.

Not one of my more optimistic nights here. Maybe I will get better.

5. mandatory health INSURANCE for Massachusetts residents
keep an eye on this...

Romney heads to California
By Glen Johnson, Associated Press
November 30, 2005

---snip---

The new title would go on a resume that has been growing through the fall legislative session, as Romney made a high-profile push for a tougher drunken driving law in Massachusetts, signed a bill providing energy assistance to low-income residents and campaigned for a plan to bring universal health care coverage to Massachusetts residents.

=======

heard on NPR yesterday: The proposal will REQUIRE EVERY MASSACHUSETTS RESIDENT TO PURCHASE HEALTH INSURANCE. Those unable to purchase health insurance will be eligible for a "state" version at a lower subsidized cost (ummmm medicare? medicaid?)

also part of the proposal is a requirement for any business with 10 or more employees to provice health insurance for employees

good idea or bad? don't have much in the way of details....

6. I have always said ....
If physicians voted purely on self-interest, the medical community would be overwhelmingly Democratic.
