DUers: Help keep Bush-bucks out of the Canadian election

With the Canadian election just underway, and the results having a major bearing on Bush's prestige and influence (not to mention enlisting another unwilling nation into the "coalition of the well-paid elitists") the concern has been expressed more than once that American RWingers will try to subvert the Canadian election by pouring in campaign money to fund our Conservatives and/or independents to run against our pro-same-sex marriage/anti-Iraq War left.

-Please- help us keep Bush-bucks out of Canada's election.

Some of you may recall the flap over Michael Moore's comments on the last Canadian election. We take our elections seriously.

Any reliable reports on Bush-bucks getting into Canada, any reliable reports of American freepers interfering in our election, please post them and forward them to me (kgin at sympatico dot ca). I'll be sure they get to Jack Layton (leader of the federal NDP) and Elections Canada (independent agency responsible for the election and infractions against our election laws).

Don't let the Bushies get us!

please tell me you still use paper and pencils . . .

You will see an increased interest in "wedge issues" like same-sex marriage and abortion, as well as increased funding to Canadian affiliates of Focus on the Family and other fundie-fuckwad organizations. You will hear more from the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (basically a fascist RW think-tank) and others regarding further watering down Canadian anti-trust laws ALREADY watered down by Mulroney Tories in the late '80s early '90s, etc.

It's going to be a very dirty election - I still don't know who to vote for: The current crop of incumbent criminals (Lieberals), the corporatist fascists-in-waiting (CPC), or the over-compensatory LW NDP...It would be a bit easier if I didn't know for certain that whichever party gets into power will immediately become the corporatist party - politicians these days are just mouthpieces for corporations and rubber stamps for corporate interests...The Lieberals were not always this corporate or corrupt - I am really missing the days of REAL politicians like Pearson and Diefenbaker...all we have left are wet noodles like Harper, Martin and Layton - PATHETIC.

Still - it looks like the safest bet is going to be a CPC-NDP coalition government, with the left-wing NDP attempting to balance the right-wing CPC...to what extent this is an EQUAL partnership depends entirely on Layton's ability to get MORE NDP MPs elected...


And yes, we still use pencils and paper...
