My Strategy for Victory in Iraq
Not that my opinion really matters, but here is my strat.

We have to realize that we cannot just leave this country right now. We broke it, we bought it. We must intensify our efforts to train the Iraqi police and military to take over the jobs we are currently doing and then cut out, one area at a time.

2. O'Reilley had a great point (I was shocked)
He asked if our soldiers go through six weeks of boot camp and another few weeks of specialized training and are then sent to Iraq, why does it take YEARS to train Iraqis to do the same job?

4. Tim Russert made the same point on Sunday
Sen Warner did not have an answer to that.

5. Saddam Hussein
Has there been a competent Arab military in recent history? They were way too top down to be effective.

It takes years because the military culture had to be completely rebuilt.

Flame away.

6. Its mostly because they have no experienced officers or NCOs
our line soldiers go through 9 weeks of basic training, but it takes years to get experienced mid level officers and NCOs. Now, if only we had kept most of the Iraqi army infrastructure intact, instead of dismantling the entire thing, we wouldnt be in this situation.
