2. If I was a political consultant I'd be hoping....

that the public saw that as real. If it's viewed as crocodile tears that could be a bad kick in the ass.

5. depending on your feelings for the man
is whether you consider it real or fake.

i remember when clinton use to emote during his speeches many of his critics thought it was fake while his supporters thought he cared about the little guy.

6. I had the speech on, but wasn't really watching or listening
Sorry, there's no crying in baseball or in the Presidency. If he is so fucking broken up, then bring the goddamn troops home.

He probably needs a medication adjustment. I understand that emotional lability is a side effect when the dose needs adjustment.

So much for the tough, swaggering Texan, I guess. My sense is that it goes over like a lead balloon...the damn midshipmen do NOT need to see the Commander in Chief boo-hooing--if he was gonna pull that stunt, he should have done it in front of the National Officer's Wives/Spouses Club.

Weak. Lame...

Says the only way to honor the death of the fallen Marine is to keep up the fight until mission complete.

Bush, Hillary and Lieberman are all on the same page.

9. That will be the #1 clip for the rest of the 24 hour cycle
With his approval ratings in the dumps, Rove will be trying to use this (subliminally) to get people feeling 'sorry' for him.

Awww, poor guy...he's in such a pickle. *sniff* :sarcasm:

But the speech was really, really long and this stagecraft came at the end. Most people had probably already turned it off, or if they didn't saw this as the only 'new' thing he offered.

Remember, all of this is part of their multi-scenario strategy to lift the buffoon's approval ratings. Once that's realized, it's all political stagecraft and thereby FAKE.

10. Are they stupid enough...
...to get caught using a fictious Marine's e-mail? At this point,I wouldn't be suprised.

They still think they can manipulate any situation with a good photo-op or sound bite. Victory in Iraq is just one good speech with a catchy slogan ameruka will embrace. "Where's the beef?"

12. If it was fake, I'm sure we'll find out.
I think I am beginning to see how the Rove machine works. Rove could have manufactured the letter but Bush thinks it is real. So his tears could be genuine but really "faked."

15. Yes, especially because he seemed to be addressing Cindy
when he said: "the only way to honor the death of this Marine and others like him is to pick up the mantle and carry on the fight and complete the mission"

Implying that Cindy is dishonoring the memory of her own son.

18. Remember GHW Bush's convention speech?
When he recalled agonizing over starting the first gulf war? He described the tears rolling down his face. Blech.

I didn't buy that, and I didn't buy this. This Bush especially has a reputation for not taking things seriously and not being very sensitive.

Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 01:01 PM by zidzi
said in another thread..bush is crying for himself and I replied.."Like cunningham".

bush is a monster who had no moral objection to sending our soldiers to invade a country who posed no threat based on his lies and now he "cries" when he reads a letter from one of those dead soldiers?

Are we suppose to feel sorry for the monster?

really well, if he had read the "letter" and starting Smirking.

As another DUer said in so many words..this email is a call to college republicans to go "die for freedom".
