Governors 50 State Approval Ratings. Jodi Rell (R-CT) #1.
Edited on Thu Dec-01-05 01:34 PM by nickshepDEM
SUSA 50 STATE GOVERNOR APPROVAL RATINGS

Most popular Governor in the county:
Jodi Rell (R-CT) Approve 77% Disapprove 18%

Mark Warner, Brian Schweitzer, and Joe Manchine all deserve an honorable mention.

CT residents... Why is Jodi Rell so damn popular? I know she signed civil unions into law, but what else has she done? Second, will you be voting for her in 2006?

1. Well, I think they got mine right
I live in Missouri and in just one year, Boy Blunder has gone from hero to zero, and sadly continues to dig his own grave. He is going to be a one term wonder, and I'm really hoping that Mel's daughter, Robin Carnahan, gets into the race. Right now though she is busy cleaning up the mess Blunt left in the SOS office.

2. I think Rell became Gov since the predecessor is in JAIL.
Perhaps it's still a honeymoon

Here's a story google handed me.

Rell to campaign without Bush’s help

By GREGORY B. HLADKY, Journal Register News Service

11/16/2005

HARTFORD -- Gov. M. Jodi Rell made it clear Tuesday that she neither expects nor wants any help from President Bush in her campaign as the Republican candidate for governor of Connecticut.

"I don’t think President Bush would want to campaign particularly for me," said Rell. "I’m campaigning right now..with individuals who wish to campaign with me."

"I don’t mean that to be disrespectful in any manner, but I think over the last year there have been many initiatives that I have put on the table where I differ very much with the Republican administration," Rell added.

Rell said those disagreements include "areas of stem-cell research and some more social issues." She has also opposed Bush on topics ranging from the environment and education to cuts in federal funding for Connecticut’s homeland security efforts.

But Connecticut Democrats aren’t ready to let Rell separate herself from her party’s increasingly unpopular president without a fight.

30. CT Dems should still equate Rell with Rowland, moreso than Bush
She was part of that corrupt Admin, even if she personally wasn't involved in the sleaze. She didn't challenge it, and there is no way she could convince me that she didn't know Rowland was corrupt. I think she turned a blind eye and deaf ear to Rowland's corruption and hoped to just slide by it, but silence on his corruption gives consent to it.

I support DeStefano for the Dem nomination for Gov, and think that he has the right strategy to defeat Rell. He is tying her to Rowland's Admin, not just the corruption, but the poor leadership in helping CT become a stronger state financially. I think after the Holidays and people will start looking at our governor's race a bit more. If DeStefano gets more coverage in the news about his platform and his critiques of Rell's poor leadership skills, her poll numbers will start coming down. Will DeStefano defeat Rell? Don't know at this point, but I think he has the only plan that will work to do so.

4. Wow. Our red state governors are very popular.
John Lynch from New Hampshire is the only popular blue state Democratic governor up there. Schweitzer, Warner, Manchin, Freudenthal, Napolitano, Henry, and Richardson all have 60%+ approval ratings. The only other Dem from a blue state with an approval rating over 50% is Cody in New Jersey. In the over 50% crowd in the red states we have Sebelius, Vilsack, Easley, and Bredesen.

13. Sadly, only Republicans have positive net approval ratings
At least according to this source. The Democrat with the highest net approval rating, John Lynch at number 5 on the list, only has 46%. The four governors with positive net approval ratings are all Republicans.

The three governors with the very worst net ratings are all Republicans. But number four from the bottom is Katherine Blanco, a Democrat.

15. Anything above 0 is a positive net rating.
You are refering to those that have a spread greater than 50% which is quite simply huge. Most governors have positive net job ratings.

12. I know the movie is old, but it captures the
turning point of MI. Michiganders helped create the auto industry, and then the auto industry decided they would rather give our jobs to people in other countries.

By great I mean, really captures the greed in corporate American. Sickening how many people lost their jobs in the Detroit area and what they had to do to survive.

Do you remember the part where the lady skins little rabbits?

Taft was also directly involved in 'coingate' (very big scandal).

He recently pleaded no contest to some pretty serious charges, but refuses to resign.

20. Yes.
It went into effect on October 1. Rell signed it into law. CT is the first state that civil unions were passes by the legislative.
Vermont's laws were passed throught the court.

Oops, I was reading the poll upside down.

Seriously, Taft is a tax & spend Republican with an apparent pay to play culture of corruption emanating from his administration(Coingate)and is perceived by many Republicans here as anti-gun (he opposed concealed carry).

She seems nice enough, went through breast cancer right after she became GOV.

I think the fact that she is "likeable" is why she rates so high.
I still believe she and others who are still in power from the puke side from Rowland's admin. knew what he was up to but how much should we hold them accountable?

I am still debating on whether or not I will vote for her next year.

31. Blanco and Bloggo bottom two dems. No surprises there.
After Katrina screw ups, no one could survive that.

Bloggo is self-emoliating his career and run for president. If he survives the federal inquiries into illegal fund-raising in exchange for corrupt hiring practices of complete dolts, he will probably lose his re-election campaign next year.

I am surprised that Taft's numbers are so high. 18% still support him? Are they all relatives or employed by the State GOP?

One thing is for sure: with Jodi Rell (R-CT) ranked as the top Governor in the nation, the Far Right no longer has any numerical basis for the assertion that "most Americans" oppose gay civil unions.

Edited on Sat Dec-03-05 09:46 AM by OneTwentyoNine
Lets see...balanced the budget in her first year of office. This after eight years of Republican Gov Bill Graves sent us into a Bush type of spending binge. He racked up nearly a BILLION in debt for the State, most of it from big ass property tax cuts for owners of high dollar vehicles.

And yet 34% of the hard core, asswipe Kansan Repukes think she's doing a job that merits dis-approval. Jesus, these people are fucking BEYOND belief......

probably the people of CT are doing some comparison. She is probably undoing his damage. Wasn't it CT where schools and govt buildings couldn't afford toilet paper and such? Maybe she has fixed that.
