Chertoff sent an APB bulletin out for Brown
Per Brian Williams on last nights NBC news, another e-mail has surfaced highlighting the ineptness of the bush administration. Chertoff sent an email on 31 August (two days after the hurricane) basically asking Homeland Security and FEMA personnel, where the fuck is brown? When reached for comment, the agency said it was more like just a day.

I served one tour of duty on staff assignment in the Navy. I recall one day the Admiral's Aid could not be found for 15 minutes. He was in the building but not readily available to the Admiral. He was fired and reassigned that day. Such information in the Lieutenant's fitness report guaranteed he would not be promoted and it essentially topped off and ended his short Naval Career. Accountability in a timely manner.

Does that happen in bush's administration? And what does brownie get? Scorn from us and a pass from his worthless boss who probably has no desire to hold anyone accountable considering his record.

1. If the email story is true, WHY didn't Chertoff fire Brown immediately?
We all know Shrub never fires anybody, but does this mean Chertoff is the same way?

I was never in the military, but I've had several bosses who would have fired me if I was not instantly available in an emergency situation! Hell, I was forced to get a damn cell phone so I could be reached anywhere, 24/7!

5. Me thinks
chertoff was told to let brown leave "with dignity", just ensure that it happens. We sure don't need this kind of publicity right now as bodies were sighted floating in New Orleans.

I'm retired now, and I happily refer to cell phones as "the leash." God have mercy on the ass of a Sailor who was issued a cell phone and could not be contacted.

4. When I was practicing law in Mississippi
I got pulled over by a State Trooper on the way to court because my taillight was out or something, Anyway, I got to the courthouse, ran in just in time to get there after the judge (BTW, this was the same judge in the Philadelphia MS killings case a few months back) had had my name called.

I was 1 minute late.

Judge Gordon held me in contempt of court and fined me $50, saying "Sherriff, don't let this man leave the courthouse until he has paid his fine,"

6. The sincerely love Lawyers down here in Mississippi
Would that make you a Philadelphia Lawyer? I have no problem with accountability and not only being responsible but having to pay something for not meeting it, albeit your case sounds a little picky. Did you pay in cash? Beer money for the judge and the sherrif?

7. well, first of all
Edited on Thu Dec-01-05 02:05 PM by ashling
it was in Forrest, 8th circuit ... same as Philadelphia. I don't remember how I paid it actually ... I think the sheriff let me go.

However, the actual contempt I had for that court was worth waaaay more than $50.

but that was nearly 25 years ago.
