I used to work with a very pro-Bush veteran...
...and I ran into him yesterday.

"My opinion of Bush has changed since we last talked..."

"Oh, yeah?" I asked. "You're not part of the 37% now, huh?"

"I have friends in Iraq... they have no idea why they're there. They just drive around and get shot at all day." he replied.

I just nodded.

"One of my buddies back from Iraq is in Washington. He used to be a Republican. Says he's going to run for office. As a Democrat." he said...

1. And they're the lucky ones

The unlucky ones get blown up

And it's clear why they're there.

So Shrub doesn't look like the incompetant asshole he is. At least until after the next election.

2. I imagine we'll see more and more of these reactions.
About time, too.

I mean, I can understand poor management of a war in itself. What war is well managed? There aren't many. But ideologically driven blindness leading to war - that is something that is inherently political.

4. too bad he doesn't seem to show expansion in thinking
For this man, it sounds like his decisions is about the impact of the war on people he knows and the lack of "success" there, not about *s lack of abilities, the lies, bankrupting the country, destroying the planet, killing Iraqis, torturing people...

6. I'm a veteran Bush basher, so now I have people coming up
... and saying "man, I'm done with that guy, too." I'm talking about people who happily voted for him both times. In Texas! His support has really eroded.
