Warner is one funny guy.
Edited on Mon Dec-05-05 08:17 PM by nickshepDEM
From Mark Warners December 3rd speech at the Gridiron Club winter dinner, organized by the capital's media elite.

"One of the things I'm most proud of is my commitment to bipartisanship," said Warner, who has formed a national fundraising committee and visited such key presidential states as New Hampshire and Iowa.

"That's why, if I do run for president, I may ask Senator Allen to be my running mate. Think about it -- what's more presidential than this:

"I'm a red-state governor, who failed at a couple of businesses, and I liked to party too much in college, and I recently got in a well-publicized bike accident," Warner said.

"He's a guy named George who's done nothing more than live off his dad's legacy. Together we wouldn't just get elected president -- together, we already are the president."

1. His opening line in New Hampshire was funnier though..
..."Before I start, please-- go ahead and leave your cell phones on.. Because as founder of Nextel Communications, when you hear 'ring, ring'.. I hear 'ka-ching, ka'ching"

(something like that anyway)

Hey, it worked. It broke the ice and got the NH Dems roaring..

2. That was a good one too.
I laughed out loud when he said it.

4. I've been pleasantly surprised by his personality
There have always been whispers that his facial features weren't ideal plus they used to claim he lacked charisma and speaking ability. But every time I've seen him live on TV he displays a great sense of humor and timing. Lines like those don't surprise me at all. Plus, that's a trait that will only bloom if he gets into the flow of a primary campaign and national campaign. He'll get more confident in exponential proportion and the lines will become frequent and memorable. I used to think DaveInMd was exaggerating when he wrote Warner would win by landslide, but now I'm beginning to think he might be correct.
