What's your favorite piece of evidence that * lied
On another message board, some Freeper asked, "what evidence have you shown that Bush lied? Just because you like to believe it is so does not make it so. Show me the blue dress."

A sane person responded, "I disagree with your assumption that the pursuit of good government can be reduced to the hunt for a cum stain, but here are three of Bush's blue dresses:

1. Show me your WMD
right after you explain to me what was "heroic" about Bush sitting on his ass reading "My Pet Goat" after he had been informed for the 2nd time that America was under attack on 9/11.

4. The 16 words
That's the most concrete lie. When Wilson confronted them with the lie, they admitted that it "didn't rise to the level of what should be included in a SOTU speech." Their way of admitting it wasn't true.

That's one lie they CANNOT get out of. The best they can do is smear Wilson and claim he outted his wife (which had nothing to do with the lie at all).

The other thing I tell freepers is that statements like "there is do doubt that Saddam Hussein" has WMD's. You can find numerous statements they made like that. Even if they truly believed SH had WMD's, they knew there was doubt. That's an out and out lie.

The last time I used these on a freeper, he STFU.

6. Here's a few I like
#1
"On the home front, President Bush proclaimed that a report by leading economists concluded that the economy would grow by 3.3 percent in 2003 if his tax cut proposals were adopted. No such report exists."

#2
"To explain why he has turned a $236 billion budget surplus into a projected $307 billion deficit in 2004, the president claimed that he had said during the campaign that he would allow the federal budget to go into deficit in times of war, recession or national emergency but never imagined he would have a "trifecta." Actually, Mr. Bush never made such a campaign statement. These three caveats on deficits were promulgated by Al Gore. "

#3
"Listen to President Bush in December 2001 explaining publicly how he learned about the terrorist attacks three months before: "I was in Florida. And ... I was sitting outside classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower - the TV was obviously on, and I used to fly myself, and I said, 'There's one terrible pilot.'"

This account is obviously false since network cameras were not trained on the towers at the time the first airliner hit; it was only later that amateur video of this event was broadcast. "

#4
The president also said to the father of twins, "I've been to war. I've raised twins. If I had a choice, I'd rather go to war." Mr. Bush was a member of the Texas Air National Guard between 1968 and 1973 and never left the country in pursuit of his duties.

8. Lied about what?
My favorite piece of evidence that Bush lies is generally when I see his lips moving.

It all depends on what the definition of a lie is.

Here are 2:

A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.

Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression.

So this would appear to be one:

Thirteen years from now, in 2018, Social Security will be paying out more than it takes in. And every year afterward will bring a new shortfall, bigger than the year before. For example, in the year 2027, the government will somehow have to come up with an extra $200 billion to keep the system afloat -- and by 2033, the annual shortfall would be more than $300 billion. By the year 2042, the entire system would be exhausted and bankrupt. If steps are not taken to avert that outcome, the only solutions would be dramatically higher taxes, massive new borrowing, or sudden and severe cuts in Social Security benefits or other government programs.
-- 2005 State of the Union Address

“This passage contains three statements worth scrutiny. First, the statement that starting in 2018 the government "will somehow have to come up with" extra billions to stay afloat ignores the fact that there exists a substantial trust fund now invested in US treasury bonds and will make up the shortfall for several decades. Second, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has projected the trust fund will be exhausted in 2052; the year 2042 is an older figure that came from the Social Security Trustees, who used a different set of economic assumptions. Finally, even after 2052, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has noted the system could still pay out 80 percent of normal benefits without new taxes or borrowing.”

In addition, the head of the non-partisan General Accounting Office testified before Congress that Social Security “does not face an immediate crisis”.

If that doen't meet the definition these people are looking for then the word lie is meaningless

10. Bush quoting a nearly 10 yr old IAEA report for his 2003 SOTU speech
instead of the one just handed to him 2 weeks earlier. The new one showed Iraq in virtual total compliance with the WMD regulations. The old one showed he violated it. In his SOTU speech, Bush claimed the latest report showed WMD's. He lied, lied lied.

11. Richard Clark's testimony, at the 9/11 hearings
I remember watching parts of them on pbs. It confused me a bit when they refered to him as "Dick Clark" (for a while I thought they ment the guy that has that show at New years.)

12. My favorite is when, in the debates, Kerry quoted Bush
on "not really being concerned" about Osama bin Laden. Bush said "I don't believe I ever said that!" - essentially calling Kerry a liar, when it was clear that he said it.

The White House web site had the video of him saying it. Well, until Kerry stated the fact. Then, suddenly, the video was "unavailable". The transcript was still there. And all the media outlets, who cover each and every fart that Bush makes, suddenly could not find their clip of the event. Similar to all the pictures of Bush on the USS Abraham Lincoln with "Mission Accomplished" behind him. Gone from the archives.

BTW, the video is now available on the White House web site . . .

13. It's when he doesn't do anything to refute the lies of his minions, which
have been proven by video clips over and over.

For example, Cheney denying he EVER said Iraq had nukes.

And when Scotty said that no one in the administration had leaked.

The fact that Bush sits back and allows these lies to hang out there by those who work for him, without one ounce of condemnation tells me that he, at heart, is a huge liar and has no compunction about lying to this country.
