CNN is using "the Swift Boat" method to give the Narnia series free ads.
They just ran a 5 minute story about the books and the movie. Of course they included as much face time for evangelist spokespersons as possible. They should call this stuff "Swift Boating" the news. Why pay for coverage when the corporate media will run your ads as a news story?

1. CNN Headline News ran video games releases as news stories.
I would just shake my head.

2. Did you notice
how much Narnia 'merchandise' was pimped in that segment? Games, Toys, the giant stuffed Aslan. It was a religious message alright, and the religion is 'consumerism'.

9. C.S. Lewis would spin in his grave.
But, hey, if there's a buck to be made pimping religion, the fundies will be there.

11. if it will get kids to read those books too..
terrific. I think that's what those Potter books have done. I read the Narnia chronicles to my kids when they were small, they're no more religious than the average Grimm fairytale....meaning the message is universal. Of course you can find religion wherever you want...we/re all pretty atheistic in my neck of the woods....and we still love Narnia.

5. I've been in the film business - the studio isn't happy about the coverage
regarding evangelicals. In that business they don't go by the rule "all publicity is good publicity." Quite the opposite.

8. My first thought is since Narnia is Disney and CNN is Warner Brothers.
Why are they giving free press to their competition?
