Some good info on CunningScam from a fellow DUer...
The link between domestic spying by the Pentagon and the Wilkes subsidiary MZM:

"One CIFA activity, threat assessments, involves using "leading edge information technologies and data harvesting," according to a February 2004 Pentagon budget document. This involves "exploiting commercial data" with the help of outside contractors including White Oak Technologies Inc. of Silver Spring, and MZM Inc., a Washington-based research organization, according to the Pentagon document."

Now what would a corrupt political organization want with a bunch of really dirty secrets about Americans gleaned through illegal spying? Scary stuff!

Another interesting tidbit that ties Wilkes to Delay:

"ADCS is also owned by Wilkes. While ADCS Inc. won contracts, Group W Advisors was employing Alexander Strategy Group, a well-known conduit to Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas), to lobby on defense appropriations. Group W Advisors has paid Alexander Strategy Group $620,000 since 2002."

This is one big, nasty, revolting story about the dirtiest of the dirty on Capital Hill.

(Thanks, ITPS, for the links!)

1. See the problem is that the scale of their crimes is so great
that it is nearly impossible to catalog and investigate them.

2. All the more reason to start digging.
If you can't destroy the monster, then nibble at the edges so the monster has to pay more attention to you than doing the dirty to others.

3. data mining - why would they need access to FEC data bases?
Perhaps the prime illustration of the Pentagon's intelligence growth is CIFA, which remains one of its least publicized intelligence agencies. Neither the size of its staff, said to be more than 1,000, nor its budget is public, said Conway, the Pentagon spokesman. The CIFA brochure says the agency's mission is to "transform" the way counterintelligence is done "fully utilizing 21st century tools and resources."

One CIFA activity, threat assessments, involves using "leading edge information technologies and data harvesting," according to a February 2004 Pentagon budget document. This involves "exploiting commercial data" with the help of outside contractors including White Oak Technologies Inc. of Silver Spring, and MZM Inc., a Washington-based research organization, according to the Pentagon document.

---

WOTI's CEO, Alan J Broder donated to Abramoff's Capital Athletic Foundation. They also were authorized by the FEC to use their CampaignMiner system on that data base to look for "hidden patterns of collaboration." Broder said it "empowered the public" and "the political world to reap the benefits of enhanced scrutiny of the political process."

Is it just me? I don't feel like I'm reaping any benefits. Wonder if they're mining the internets for posts like these.
