2. I wrote a LTTE
about the war on christmas. Just sent it in today. Hopefully it will be published soon.

It appears that the War on Christmas is heating up. It seems every year more retail chains are added to the enemy list because they are taking Christ out of Christmas by failing to utter the phrase Merry Christmas and threats of boycotts fill the air. If you believe in a different religion or none at all, that’s too bad. They are right and you are wrong.

For those who feel threatened, might I suggest you really do boycott these stores and shop exclusively at religious outlet stores which cater to your religious philosophy? Give your children a biography of Jerry Falwell, James Dobson or the Pope. Give them some religious statues, music CD’s, computer games or clothing.

What? They want cell phones, IPOD’s and X-Box 360’s? J.C. said something that might apply here: “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.”

The true meaning of Christmas for corporate America is to entice us to empty our wallets and rack up that credit card debt purchasing wondrous things. Do you really think they will let the radical anti-material teachings of Christ interfere with profits?

32. I wrote a LTTE about Joementum
and I also called Senator Frist's office and asked why he is not involved with that 11 year old Massachusetts girl who was beaten into a coma by her stepfather. The state wants to discontinue her life support, and the stepfather doesn't want them to, as he can be charged with murder.

They hung up on me three times. Hypocrites.

5. This is really funny because
yesterday I was testing an application I'm working on and the part that is tested sends an email to my co-worker. Well to just let him know it was me I used account names such as "Howard Dean", "Hillary Clinton", "Al Sharpton" and "Timothy Kaine" - new VA Gov.

Of course he found this somewhat amusing too, so we did have a good laugh about it.

That totally pisses off conservatives who know me. I'm a law abiding, tax paying, charity giving, neighbor helping member of the community. I'm a veteran. I've been happily married for more than 30 years. My lawn is immaculate, my landscaping impeccable. Its great to have me in the neighborhood; AND I'M A FLAMETHROWING, BUSH HATING LIBERAL.

19. email
I told a "friend" I would appreciate not getting any more of her right-wing nutcase jokes about liberals since I am a proud liberal. I expected a fight but she responded simply,"Consider it done" and went on to talk about some other subject. I've put off telling these dumbies off for years and have decided to tell me where I stand. I'm glad I stood up; I think I earned respect (although I don't really care about respect from these people) and maybe they'll be open to seeing things from my viewpoint.

29. I am the Secretary of our Democratic Town Committee and our
Committee bought ad space from the High School newspaper. For 150 dollars we get to place 6-7 1/4 page ads

This newspaper gets sent to every household in our town who has a child at the high school - about 1300 homes

The latest edition should arrive some time this week

We used the quote from 41 that in his view those that expose the names of our sources "are the most insidious of traitors"

And 43's quote from swearing in the White ahouse staff that even the appearance of illegal or unethical behavior will not be tolerated

More than a few Repug heads should explode over this use of ad space in the high school paper

I should have added Happy Holidays for good measure

34. Gnostic Christianity breaks their world apart
Seriously . . . as someone who was raised in a fundie church, trust me on this one.

Fundies teach next to nothing about the history of Christianity, other than the split with the Catholics over good works' role in salvation vs. accepting Christ as your saviour. NOTHING. Fundamentalists have never heard about facts like the books of the Bible being chosed by third-century bishops with a great many being put aside due to political concerns, the split between Paulists and other Christians, or even that a group called the Gnostics existed. They are not taught about the history of their faith: It's considered too dangerous by church and denominational leaders, who quite frankly may not know it themselves. If they would allow themselves to consider the fact that this group called the Gnostics existed, then they might have to reconsider the concept that the Bible was not written by God through the hands of men and is not the infallible, literal Word of God. If that is true, then everything they've been taught to believe could be false and their salvation might be in question. Questioning itself is considered a sin. So, like the military parent who cannot imagine the Bushistas' duplicity because it means that their child died halfway around the world for old white men with oil stocks, they just. cannot. face. it. Their world would crumble around them.

I was lucky. I was only indoctrinated at church. My parents encouraged me to learn as a child (I was going to graduate from college, no ifs, ands, or buts) and never stifled that instinct in me. My grandmother, one of the most giving people I've known, hadn't entered a church in more than 30 years. So, when I was in my first job out of college and came across a book about misogyny in the Big Three religions and how it developed. It was the first time I'd heard about the Gnostics, the faiths that predated Judaism in the Middle East and their similarity to Biblical stories, etc. That led me to question what I'd been taught at church, which had never felt right to me when compared with Jesus' teaching. So, I was able to let go of the lies more easily than most fundamentalists. Very few are emotionally able to give them up.

We had(having) a major snow storm today. Maybe up to 12". My boss was parked next to me so I brushed all the snow off my car either onto his car or as much as possible if front of his tires...OOPS.

Maybe I shouldn't have as he told me I could take a 1/2 day if the morning was real bad. But I couldn't resist. LOL.

Stopped working for a corporate chain salon. I'm looking for work in a non-chain salon.

Chain salons are a terribly exploitive sweat shops. Even wal-mart pays help better and has better benefits.

It's a shame what they have done and are continuing to do to the industry.
