DEBATE: Save the people that will be killed by the people that tookie....
won't go state's evidence on.
If I were governor of Ca. that would be my condition for clemency....
He has to give up names to save lives as he won't admit he's a killer and express remorse.

1. I agree
If he has really given up the Crips, then give names, organizational information and anything else the authorities want to know.

That will save many more children than a few books.

2. If you concede to criminals or terrorists, you have let them win
Never give an inch to people who are trying to coerce you with fear.

Mr. Williams has never AFAIK given any indication that he would ever be willing to rat out his fellow gang members.

No deals. Either Governator should grant clemency based on Williams' present state of mind, or he should not.

...he won't admit he's a killer and express remorse.

Although I oppose the death penalty, that sounds like a classic reason NOT to grant any kind of clemency.

3. Tookie's no saint
Just to get this out of the way, I believe that the death penalty is wrong, in all circumstances. There is simply no justification for it at all.

That having been said, I don't believe in Tookie Williams' supposed reformation, simply because he has not, in fact, named names. He says he doesn't have it in him to snitch, but in not doing so he is complicit in more murders that he would have the power to stop.

Please remember, when you're protesting for Tookie, that this is the kind of person you're glorifying. Fight the death penalty, yes, but to hell with Tookie Williams. There are better "poster children" for clemency out there.

4. Like people who HAVE been railroaded......
Not people who were proven guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt
