2. No new indictments in the White House this week.
He's lowered the bar so much that no indictments is a huge accomplishment and a great week. The public is thrilled.

6. The last CBS poll had him at 35%
"markedly" could mean he's at 40%.

12. LOL, you're clairvoyant!
BTW, 40 percent is in line with other recent polls, so this is not a surprise. People thinking about the holidays may be giving Bush a respite from the 30s - temporarily, I hope!

16. I agree with this. Once the holidays pass...
and the bills come due and oil prices go back up and more soliders die in Iraq, his numbers will fall again to the mid 30's.

11. victory! victory! victory!
lol -- the american public will buy just about anything.

anyway they weren't going to stay in the basement forever -- he's gonna have some bounces.

but that means little in the long term -- especially if democrats investigate -- IF they will work to
deny him a legacy.

20. If they are planting lies in Iraqui newspapers then why not here?
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 06:13 AM by itzamirakul
It has been shown that ALL American media outlets are owned by just a handful of men. They control EVERYTHING that goes out over the air and in print.

And now they are lobbying to take over the internet to limit the individual sharing of information without their input and contol. And they will win...because they also OWN NEARLY EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRATIC POLITICIAN in DC and locally.

So, keep thinking that we can straighten things out. That and $5 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

22. Simple; you don't play at the extremes for very long
I wrote that specifically a few weeks ago when people were projecting a path down to 30% or lower. Bush wasn't going to be stuck in the mid-30s any more than he was going to maintain the 80-90% extreme post-9/11.

To play at the extremes you need continuing influences like the ones that planted you there in the first place. Another indictment or string of poor handling of situations would cement Bush in the mid-30s but there has been a comparitive lull. He was never going to dive much, if any, lower due to the fervent support of rightwingers, the same caliber who insist Gore tried to steal 2000 and Bush won every debate from Kerry. I was actually amazed Bush' support from his own base slumped as much as it did. I thought his basement was 38-40% approval rating but it was remarkable sustained ineptitude to plummet several points below that for a month or two.

23. The turd is still at 40%.
Never underestimate the shallowness of the sheep in this country. Bush's dog and pony show seems to work on the easily hypnotized. Not to worry, there is a scandal-festival coming down the pike. His alleged "good fortune" is temporary.
