This is a headsup/cross-post. The full opening post and excerpts are languishing in General Discussion here:http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5542604thread title (12/7 GD):
BBC: "US says N Korea 'criminal regime' "- new US ambassador to S. Korea's I think this is important enough to go searching for readers in this forum. The inflammatory statements made by the new US Ambassador to S. Korea, Alexander Vershbow, are unprecedented. Since Bush's "Axis of Evil" statements set back diplomatic relations with N Korea so seriously, what are they up to now? Are they TRYING to goad N. Korea into an aggressive move? That would be good for polls and for the Pentagon budget.
In addition to the BBC article, I've done some googling on Vershbow, who has served as Ambassador to NATO and later as Ambassador to the Russian Federation. Sounds like Condi - so he may be some kind of protege.
Please come join the discussion at the GD thread link above - this is a significant development that we should be aware of, and I doubt it's getting fair coverage in the US press.
