The 2008 election and people born between 1986 and 1990
do you think that this group of people who will be able to vote in a presidential election for the first time are or will be signifigantly more liberal and/or democratic than those born from 1982-1986 who had their first opportunity to vote in a presidential election in 04 ? Who by the way were already for Kerry by a good margin.

2. I think that demographic will likely be less Democratic in 2008

with the likely absence of a fire-brand divisive figure like George Bush.

This far out it is impossible to make such judgements with any certainty however.

3. I believe the next generation of youth
Is going to become the most politically active and progressive generations we've had since the 1960s.

4. Not unless there's a draft.
Until it affects them, apathy will reign supreme.

6. Just remember what they became: the current 50-60 year old demographic
that tends to vote Republican and had embraced the corporate culture in a way unprecedented in modern history.

5. How exactly are you supposed to guess about that? Most young
people are more liberal than the populace in general... so, I guess yes. But there is also a growing Republican machine on campuses. We need data (surveys, polls, etc.) to analyze whether or not the next generation of Americans is going to be more democrat/liberal-leaning or not... it is hard to just guestimate on this one. I guess, time will tell...

7. The thing is to get them to the polls first.
This is the age demographic that votes the least of any age group.
