Petition: Tell Joe Lieberman Debate is Patriotic!
Dear Senator Lieberman,

Recently you said, "It's time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge he'll be commander-in-chief for three more critical years, and that in matters of war we undermine presidential credibility at our nation's peril."

I disagree. The First Amendment enumerates our right "to petition the government for a redress of grievances." If Americans don't challenge a president who is bankrupting our treasury, destroying our moral leadership and jeopardizing our national security then we fail as patriots.

Senator Lieberman: As a member of the "world's greatest deliberative body," it's time you stopped trying to stifle debate and instead become part of the solution by joining the majority of Americans in questioning President Bush's foreign policy.

Respectfully,
Jim

2. My PS for Lieberman:
PS - If present trends continue, there is a very strong chance President Bush will not be commander-in-chief for much longer. He cannot get away with his crimes forever, not in America.

I advise you not to tie your career to his coattails. It's bad for your legacy to be a member of an administration which has to leave in disgrace.

I had to fight the compulsion to leave in print, what was in my mind.

6. My P.S.
The longer Bush is in office the more our personal freedoms are chipped away. You want me and other Democrats to aid in this destruction. I will not. I ask also that you stop your support of this administration and its eroding of our liberties.

24. I was polite and didn't say
what was really on my mind after seeing his pontificating whining self on that clip from cnn when Miles O'Brien was interviewing Dean.

I said it was not unpartriotic to point out the failed strategy of the lame duck.

7. We could sent him someTeddy Roosevelt quotes on the subject
Like:

To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. (1918)

12. I just did that! Here's the complete quote:
"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else." T. Roosevelt

14. Good job
I put it in the space for comments too

Maybe we could get people to include various portions of the Bill Of Rights in the comments section too.
