Remember Deborah Davis?
The mother of a soldier who is fighting in Iraq and was riding on a bus in Denver. They came upon the gate of a military post and when asked for her ID, Ms Davis refused. The security guards rushed her, threw her to the ground and arrested her as a possible terrorist suspect for not showing she was who she said she was. Well, Ms Davis has prevailed. This is according to her website:

Common Sense Prevails
DENVER, 7 December 2005. Deborah Davis will not be prosecuted on charges related to her refusal to show ID on a public bus.

Deb's lawyer, ACLU volunteer attorney Gail Johnson, was informed shortly before noon today by the office of the US attorney in Denver of their decision not to prosecute.

A rally scheduled for this Friday morning in support of Deb's stand in favor of the Freedom to Travel will go ahead as planned. A victory ride on the route 100 RTD bus by Deb and some of her supporters will take place shortly thereafter.

3. Hallelujah! The fight for our rights as a free people is by no means over
--and won't be until we throw Diebold and ES&S election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor'--but this is a step forward. Kudos to Deborah Davis and her ACLU lawyer Gail Johnson! Deb's action that day was comparable to Rosa Parks' refusal to sit at the back of the bus. Such courage to buck the system! Such courage to say "No, you will not transgress me"! And to put yourself in jeopardy--of jail and of abuse--to stand up for all our rights! I am in awe!
