The. Biggest. Scandal. Ever! Phony Cos. Cycle Cash Back to GOP!
Ever wonder why the Republicans have SO much money in every national election?

And what did the Dukester do to get his Rolls-Royce, anyway? Whose Lear Jet was he flying around in? The answers to those 3 questions turn out to be The. Biggest. Scandal. Ever!

If you were a totally crooked neo-con former CIA financier Republican who hangs with the corrupt Delay-Abramoff crowd, what would be the most unethical, diabolical way to funnel SO much money to the Republican Party and neo-con schemes that you could take back the government from the Democrats?

Easy!

With your corrupt Republican buddies, form a slew of your own brand-new Defense Companies, submit bids on things the Pentagon never even asked for to the Delay/Cunningham network and Bingo!--those contributions to the GOP and K Street will flow in like never before. You can then even give to Presidential candidates like George W. Neo-Con.

The. Biggest. Scandal. Ever! on the flip!

(much much more! These guys are really dirty!)

1. a huge scandal to be sure, but the biggest ever? . . .
I think I'd put the stolen elections, 9/11, and the illegal war against Iraq ahead of this on my list . . . but it's certainly in the top ten . . .

22. This is what made the stolen elections possible
Without these sham companies sending countless dollars back into GOP coffers there would never have been a stolen election. they would not have even been close.

29. I think they all tie together
and once one thing crumbles the rest will for surely follow. Maybe not as soon but it will eventually since it all ties together. Everything they do ties together and goes back to the same people: Bush and his neocons.

2. Right, I posted a blog last week
that had uncovered a company that did small time web design for small time customers but managed to get huge military contracts and make huge GOP campaign contributions.

Cunningham, Delay, Abramoff, and the rest of them are all tied up in this stuff together, flipping taxpayer money slated for defense into party coffers. The good news is that a lot of people are starting to pick at all the little loose threads and that means this whole thing will unravel at some point.

I've stopped wearing my tinfoil hats these days. This stuff is all turning out to be too real.

That ties in too. Do you think they have ties to Abramoff?

3. Biggest. Scandal. Ever. Part II -Corporations give to Dems, too
Most of the time, major corporations give money to both major parties. Is there a reason most Dems never talk about national, government health care (even when they were a majority)? Is there a reason Clinton asked Congress for a raise in min wage...only after it went Republican??

Why has there never been a serious discussion about lowering the military budget (rather than how quickly it should be raised?) Does Boeing give to Dems? Does Lockheed? You bet.

5. Yes, corporations give to Dems.
This is just something a wee bit different. You might want to study the distinction.

This is not corporate money going to a political party. This is taxpayer money, allocated for defense.

Perhaps you can't see that distinction?

7. They don't launder it through dummy corporations
that are set up to take defense money and then just flip it around to party coffers. THAT is the difference, and THAT is why "money laundering" is going to be a phrase you'll hear more and more connected to the GOP.

8. I don't follow your line of reasoning
If a corporation publicly gives money to a certain party, there is not problem. When money is funneled through bogus front companies to a certain party, there is a HUGE problem. The latter is the case here.

9. The "they all do it" defense (Rovian tactic - when. say Enron broke)
Nice try, but it's not working on this one. Same with stolen elections.

11. I am not trying to defend the Repubs, just facing reality.
And yes, "legal" contributions are a problem, too.
I do agree that the Republicans are very corrupt, and even more blatant in their crimes. They should be vigorously brought to the public's attention, and prosecuted.

Do not want people to think the Dems have much to brag about, however.

13. Aren't we straying a bit off topic? Amounting to OBFUSCATING?
And do you know why this is a problem? because I have friends who REFUSE to entertain the notion that bush stole the past 2 elections because "they all do it". It's a self-destructive kind of thinking - a paralysing sophistry .
Democratic corruption bothers you? Start another thread. Don't try to muddy this issue.

23. You are spot on. I question a poster whocannot tell the difference between
getting graft for favors (which should also be prosecuted),and this, a much more heinous crime of grand theft and taxpayer money laundering/fraud in millions. We are talking about the stealing of democracy itself, and the looting of the treasury to do it.

This has to be kept high on our list (or any list for that matter) for the MSM to even give a little bit of interest to this. We have to keep it from being buried under another missing suburbanite story.

Thanks for the link! :hi:

10. Oh heck, they do it throught the PACs all the time
it is a wonderful shell game they have, subverting the limitation on contribution amounts by spreading the wealth and giving to pacs that give to their candidates.

The GOP is very good at "kiting" and money laundering. They could teach criminals lessons.

:argh:

21. Again, they have been doing that for years.
Upsurping the campaign funding limits by playing the PAC shell game for years and they have been expecting the donations to come from the corporations they give the gov't bids and contracts to. Their lobbyists explain and coach how the donations are to be made.

They are just getting sloppy is all, they think they are beyond the law since they see themselves as the law.

16. Read this disgrace on Raw Story last week.
Funny how the MSM won't touch it with a 10 ft pole. Which is precisely why some folks just can't fathom that the Republicans would be so abjectly evil and are above doing whatever it takes to win. Someday I hope to see an accurate accounting of where all the money went during the BushCo Regime. I do believe it will make our collective heads explode.

Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 01:45 PM by FreedomAngel82
It's really easy to tell how and why the republicans gain so much money: corporate donars. They cater in return for these corporations who in return keep giving them money and also bribes as well (see Cunningham and DeLay). Why else has our economy sucked since 9/11? Follow the money as always.
