Snarky (but heartfelt) Greetings to our Elected Reps

In keeping with the holiday season, I thought I should take time out, as an American, to express my heartfelt gratitude for all of the hard work you have all done this year.

Of course, these wishes only apply to SOME of you -- but hey, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Thank you for being astute enough to recognize that our country's banks and credit card companies deserve the billions of dollars they make, and due to your support of the new legislation, these institutions will never have to worry about where their next buck is coming from when lazy citizens are forced to declare bankruptcy. You've given so much to Big Business, Big Pharma and Big Oil in the past; it's only right to share the wealth with Big Money at this holy time of year.

Thank you for ignoring the Katrina victims, and not wasting our tax dollars putting our fellow citizens back on their feet. Just because some Americans will be spending their Christmas in a shelter somewhere, without money, jobs, or hope, that doesn't mean it has to ruin your well-deserved holiday.

When you watch your kids enjoying all of the expensive goodies you've placed under the Christmas tree, please be assured that the millions of American children whose parents are out of work will be content with an assurance from a tearful mom and dad that "maybe Santa will come NEXT year".

When you curl up in front of the fireplace with your family and friends, remember that other Americans will also be curled up in front of their stoves, electric heaters, and other devices. Of course, they'll be doing so because they can't afford to turn on the furnace -- but it's that "shared experience" that makes the Yuletide bright!

As you celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace, don't trouble yourself with thoughts about the War in Iraq, about American soldiers being wounded or dying. Don't dwell on things like our country running secret prisons, or torturing our fellow human beings. 'Tis the season to be jolly!

So Merry Christmas to all of you who have worked so hard to get the country where it is today, and enjoy spending the raises you've given yourselves on a happy holiday season!
