DU Unofficial Poll - How many think Bush is really, truly insane?
How many think Bush is actually sane, but purely evil?

How long do you think it will be before Bush will be "caught" for his obvious problem?

Personally, I think he's completely insane, of the psychopath type. No sane person could do the things he's done. I don't know when he'll be exposed, but hope the sooner the better. But I'm interested in hearing what the rest of you think.

12. I agree.
I'm NOT a psychologist, so maybe I shouldn't comment. But based on what I've seen of him, he certainly fits the mold of a sociopath. Absolutely indifferent to the feelings of others. Only cars about what he wants.

3. One would hope that by truly humane standards, to be that evil one would
HAVE to be insane. I think that Dimson is both, insane and evil.
In his case, they are inseparable. Should he ever be tried for his crimes to humanity, he should be sent to an institution for the criminally insane, as should all his cohorts.

4. Having met people like him...
...and knowing people that have met with him (who, were I President, I would never ever meet in person), I don't think he's insane or evil. He's like many people born of priveledge that achieve nothing throughout their life but what their name and wealth purchase for him. He's a spoiled, incurious, selfish, meglomanical, violent and brutish man.

I've known several priviledged kids in my lifetime, but none of them were borne of such arrogance, egotism, jealousy, hatred, violence and lying as George W. Bush. It was a sad and scary day for America when he was placed in the position of president. This country has gone downhill under his "rule."

33. Wow. You nailed it. Exactly what I've felt about bush too.
We've all got to work very seriously hard toward H O N E S T voting systems in our states. It's imperative that our votes truly count in the future.
We had a town election recently and at 8PM went to the High School to watch the 10 machines(the old lever types) be counted. Seemed V E R Y honest and accurate to me. To hell with computer voting...I don't trust it one damned bit.
Our group of concerned citizens, formed a new 3rd party...the Chatham Party. We fielded 5 candidates for the 7 seat Town Council, running on a slate about RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT, less sprawl and less developer cronyism on our local boards......had a 47% voter turnout and all 5 of those wonderful folks received thousands more votes that any of the other candidates. We swept and won all 5 seats. As Tip O'Neill said "all politics is local". We, as caring citizens, CAN make a wonderful difference in our towns, cities, states and federal elected make-up.

11. People will always debate whether he was a psychopath or not
but unless he consents to an examination, no one will know for certain. That's how it is with powerful psychopaths--and psychopaths often rise to powerful positions--there is no closure to the discussion of their sanity because they usually can't be "caught". Indeed, to become Preznit it seems you almost have to have bad "character" or mental illness in the fist place.

As far as I'm concerned though, he's already exposed himself as psychopath.

From the time when he was blowing up frogs, he's always been an exceptionally cruel and hard person. Quitting drinking (if he's actually quit) turned him into a black-and-white thinking dry drunk with delusions of grandeur. He's a sociopath that'll get away with whatever we let him get away with.

17. I think he is a narcissitic sociopath...
And beyond help. And I find that very frustrating and scary. Not insane in the sense that most people think of insanity, but in a much more subtle and intangible way. It is unlikely he will ever be "caught" for his problem. He has the ultimate job for getting "narcissistic supply." People fawning over him all the time, which is what he requires. The other component, sociopathic, is the most frightening to me...he really has no conscience. He loses no sleep over any consequences people suffer for his actions, because he has no concept of compassion or empathy. Babs really did a great job raising this piece of work.

23. Bush is a sociapathic personality.
Imagine if you had gone your whole life never facing any consequences for your screw ups, since his daddy cleaned up all his messes.

Besides the fact that he is alchoholic and your emotional level stops at the age you become alchoholic.

You have a man @ the emotional level of a spoiled child who doesn't have a clue about the ramifications of his own actions.

Couple that with the intellect of a stupid moron, and you have a recipe for total and complete desvastation!!

It is unbelievable that he became president. If you ever doubted that our country has been taken over by corruption and big money, this is a great example.

Hopefully, people have learned a very big lesson, but I won't count on that.

62. Sound like someone we know??
The common features of psychopathic traits

Glib and superficial charm; Grandiose sense of self-worth; Need for stimulation; Pathological lying; Conning and manipulativeness; Lack of remorse or guilt; Shallow affect; Callousness and lack of empathy; Parasitic lifestyle; Poor behavioral controls; Promiscuous sexual behavior; Early behavior problems; Lack of realistic, long-term goals; Impulsivity; Irresponsibility; Failure to accept responsibility for own actions; Many short-term marital relationships; Juvenile delinquency; Revocation of conditional release; Criminal versatility
snip
CHARISMATIC PSYCHOPATHS are charming, attractive liars. They are usually gifted at some talent or another, and they use it to their advantage in manipulating others. They are usually fast-talkers, and possess an almost demonic ability to persuade others out of everything they own, even their lives. Leaders of religious sects or cults, for example, might be psychopaths if they lead their followers to their deaths. This subtype often comes to believe in their own fictions. They are irresistible.

It really puts the fear in me at times when he speaks; it makes me feel so uncomfortable and insecure.
The fact that he's always been this way and no one has ever stepped up to the bat and done something about it, is wrong. There are also times when he seems almost incoherent. Why aren't more people worried about his condition? I don't feel he'll ever be made to answer to any of his misdeeds; because, people already know much about him and do nothing. :scared: :scared: :nopity:

Like a sheltered child who has never had to face the consequences of his actions. It's as if he has no idea how the poor and middle class really live. 34. I think he has two problems...
I think he has all of the earmarks of a textbook sociopath. A lack of concern for consequences of his actions, an inability to empathize with others and no sense of conscience whatsoever. Sociopathy is not considered a type of insanity where you are not responsible for your actions. It is considered a borderline personality problem and it is nearly impossible to treat. I guess I would have to say that he's barking mad, but not crazy.:wtf:

I also think he is abusing alcohol, drugs or both. It explains the slurred speech, the really bizarre behavior in public, and the strange things he does like calling on invisible reporters and walking into doors. Also that wound on his face did not come from a pretzel. That was a goose's egg from falling and hitting his head. Then there are those syncopated jaw movements.

I think he has already been "caught" a number of times, but no one will do anything about it short of a full scale meltdown with ranting and assaults on others.:hide:

40. Exactly...and remember, sociopathy and psychopathy
along with narcissism are personality disorders. There are no cures known. As to his slurred speech; studies reveal that psychopaths have difficulty with speech, their speech patterns and their use of language is 'off'. Their speech patterns tend to be disjointed and incoherent to listeners.
I would imagine that * and co. have already been diagnosed, probably in young adulthood.
* a narcissist, c*^%&^ a psychopath. And as various world leaders have passed, and their medical/psychological profiles become known to the public, so shall * and company.

47. Yes, he has other...
traits in common with sociopaths. They seem unable to function within the confines of a job or have a career beyond a certain point. If you look at Bush's whole life he has had a series of enterprises where his parents and friends have propped him up then bailed him out. He has never had consequences from his own actions.

After a while, sociopaths simply seem to lose interest in an activity that does not fit within their obsessional framework and walk away from it. Like he did from the National Guard and most of his "businesses". I believe his retreat from contact with most of his aides and his refusal to follow day to day operations of the government is his way of "walking away" from the presidency. Their school attendance is undistinguished, as his was. They tend to isolate themselves from other people, which he has. All kinds of danger signals going on here, as you point out.

The reason I think he is drinking is because he is an alcoholic who never had any kind of rehab and who doesn't have a program to turn to during times of great stress. He claims that his alcoholism was "cured" by a prayer meeting with Billy Graham. In the real world of addiction that just doesn't do it.

I'm also going by the flushed appearance he has a lot of the time which is not due to exposure to the sun, and which shows through even with the makeup they slap on him for his photo appearances. My father was an alcoholic and I see a lot of similarities. He also has bright glassy eyes and he is way up on the boisterous meter. Then you see him the next day and he is flat, twitchy and in need of a drink. I was watching Bush around the time he was "helping" the gubernatorial candidate in Virginia. He got off of a plane with Laura, and before he took one step he put his arm around her shoulders. She grasped him very tightly around the back so that he would not stagger as he walked away. It was obviously something they have been doing for years. Bush is also a really aggressive drunk. I saw him turn on a reporter as he was walking away from a press conference while he was traveling. He started to yell at the reporter and I think he would have gone back and attacked him if his handlers had not eased him up the hall and away from the situation.

Bush has and is a cornucopia of problems, and they are getting worse.

we learned that an entity, like a corporation, can be sociopathic in nature. It is not just Bush-it's also his neocon buddies. Megalomaniac, sociopathic--I would say that they all sucked at the teat of Strauss. Very scary times, indeed. But the lying, cheating, murdering to stay in power is not for a group who is worthy of power.
