the good news is that 2/3 of it went to republicans ... but the top 20 list includes some big name Democrats as well ...

1. I've said all along that this will get
some shit stuck to Democrats, especially the more conservative Democrats.

Anybody who gets nailed in this scandal is likely expendable.

3. I have to agree. If the pigs are wrong to do it, then the dems are too.
Patrick Kennedy has some 'splaining to do.

5. Wow. Bob Ney sticks out like a sore thumb there.
Most of the rest I know to be either ogres that have to be paid off or people who are actually somewhat sympathetic to Indian tribes--or sometimes both. Hayworth and Kennedy are both vocal proponents of tribal rights. The tactic of singling out select members of appropriations committees is standard lobbying practice. So I would have a plausible reason to give money to almost all those people.

But Bob Ney can't do shit for Indians.

6. An astonishingly dishonest chart and graph
You will note that it lumps donations from Indian tribes with donations that went through Abramoff AS IF THOSE WERE ONE AND THE SAME.

The reason the Abramoff Indian Tribes scandal IS a scandal is not that Indians made donations. It's that Abramoff meddled in tribal elections to get his supporters in power so that he would be hired as lobbyist (if I'm not mistaken, only some of those tribes lsited hired Abramoff). When those tribes hired Abramoff as a lobbyist, he funneled the money to Republicans who did not support the tribes' interest and traded racist emails mocking the Indians with those Republicans' congressional staffers.

8. R or D, Right or Left, If they are dirty they should go.
I don't care who they are, if you were stupid enough to deal with that dirtbag Abramoff you should be from the Congress or Presidency or any public position right now. We don't need your corruption.
