Jack Carter steps out of his father's shadow at 58
Jack Carter looks, speaks and even laughs like his father. He has the same thick blond hair, the same warm Southern chuckle and the same unassuming persona that became famous when Jimmy Carter ousted the Republicans from the White House in 1976.

Now after 58 years in his father's shadow, he is stepping on to the public stage and running for the Senate in his adopted home, Nevada. The seeds of a new political dynasty have been sown, although whether they will bear fruit is far from certain.

In a clear parallel with his father, whose campaign played up his small town background in Plains, Georgia, and exploited disillusionment over Watergate and Vietnam, Mr Carter will stand as a Mr Average, sharing public disquiet at the Bush administration and worries over the Iraq war.

1. Jack will be a great Senator if elected.
I live in GA and his dad is one of our greatest Americans. I hope he is like President Carter, a good and honest man. :)

5. Age-wise, Amy Carter was the caboose in that family--much younger
All I remember is she was a little girl in the White House, and her brothers were adults -- so, I guess the fact he's 58 now makes sense.

I wish him luck. We could certainly use more decent men in the Senate.

7. Lucky Nevada!
I met Jimmy Carter before he ran for President - at a telethon we held at ABC. I had never heard of him before that. He came in and charmed us all! He has also been probably the most loved, respected ex-President in my lifetime. I admire him tremendously for the way in which he lives his faith - and I'm not particularly religious myself...but he sets the 'gold' standard, imo.
