Why Bush is wrong about his place in history.
Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 10:37 AM by Vinnie From Indy
Remember the headlines around the world the day after 9/11? The outpouring of affection for America by most of the world was unprecedented. In the days that followed 9/11, America had the chance to lead the world into an era of cooperation and common goals. The tragedy of not using this unique historical opportunity to unite the world for the better is arguably larger than the 9/11 event itself. BushCo chose another, darker path that has led us to a place where we isolate ourselves more and more from the rest of the world and a place where perpetual warfare is the preferred foreign policy. In the end, BushCo. has chosen to revive the obscenely profitable industry of war and conquest that president Eisenhower warned us against. The greed that drives this small cadre of right wingers and their corporate accomplices knows no loyalty, restraint or patriotism. Their cost benefit analysis of taking the opportunity of 9/11 to change the world showed clearly the benefits of war mongering, secrecy and division over peace and cooperation. America's long standing moral authority, whether real or imagined, is gone. Under BushCo, we have become just another rogue country in history that uses our might for conquest and acquisition. We have even abandoned the pretense that ours is a country that respects human rights and the rule of law.

2. I heard some media person on Meet The Press Sunday.....
Blathering about how Bush's people think he will be another Roosevelt or Lincoln. Can you even believe that? I don't understand how they can be so delusional. I think he will be rated among the worst. It's just so bizarre, the treatment he gets in the media. Brian Williams saying he reads the papers and watches the news, as if we should believe what he says now, as opposed to what he said before. It's disgusting.

3. So very true . . .
. . . baffling that most of this country is so stoooopid that they can't see it.

4. Most of the fallout will occur after Bush leaves office....
...and they will blame it on someone else, most likely the next Democrat.

5. I'm just wondering,
Do you think Bush really cares about his 'place in history'? Do you think it bothers him that liberals hate his guts? Or is he just concerned with the opinions of those he thinks of as his own? Or maybe just God's?

I don't have any answers, just questions.

6. I don't think he has the intellect to understand anything beyond
his bubble. I have always thought him to be a "useful idiot" for the real powers that be. Cheney and the others however are simply in it for the money and the power. It is their religion.
