Nip it in the bud dept: Do we need to worry about Lynn Swann?
I'm a big football fan and he was one of the best, but will his four superbowl rings help put a republican Governor in the PA statehouse?

1. When he started broadcasting, I thought he was pretty slick
..and very telegenic. That was a while ago.

2. I guess you can be slick, telegenic and a great football player
and still not be too smart.

3. Oh for goodness sake. Why do people think that just because someone
is a big name in acting or sports that they're even remotely qualified for government? For example, Tom Osborn is gonna run for governor of Nebraska. Now the man could coach a football team, but seriously I don't want him trying to run this state.

Old Tom may look like a real nice guy but he covered up a lot of immoral and/or illegal crap his 'boys' on the team pulled. Tom is nothing if not a good one for looking out for Tom first, doing the right thing only if forced into it.

And he doesn't seem to be the brightest bulb in the pack either.

4. Jack Kemp, JC Watts, Steve Largent
The repugs seem to get a lot of jocks into politics. All of the above are out now.

9. With Liddy, it was
experience by injection

(and that's shaky, what with Lefty's problem . . .)

6. I think that the reign of Arnold Der Boobengroper

has cured America of electing celebrities with no previous political experience.

12. Latest poll results
show that in a head-to-head with Rendell:

Quinnipiac. 11/30-12/6. Registered voters. MoE 2.6% (9/27-10/3 results)

Governor matchups

Rendell (D) 52 (52)
Piccola (R) 27 (26)

Rendell (D) 48 (47)
Scranton (R) 36 (34)

Rendell (D) 48 (47)
Swann (R) 35 (34)

Rendell would treat Swann just like Jack Tatum used to do:
