The reason why I was against Tookie's Execution...
Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 03:45 PM by PlanetBev
I can't stand being in a country that has this type of similarity to Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and all other medieval thinking governments.

One of my co-workers gleefully informed me today that she sat up till 12:40 to make sure that Tookie was dead. I guess she assumes that I feel the same way, but I said nothing in reply. I don't want this kind of conversation at work.

I can only wonder how my co-worker's all-white Simi Valley life was improved by this man's death.

1. Ah yes Simi Valley, home of the jury that exonerated the officers
in the Rodney King case sparking the 1992 riots.

I know whereof I speak :P

Woodland Hills/Canoga Park is a tad more . . . diverse shall we say? :P

5. Out here in Thousand Oaks
Slighty less knuckle-dragging than Simi...but not much.

3. a serious character flaw - someone rejoicing at the death
of another human.

Whether or not she think he "deserved" it, the malice of her statement is quite telling.

When all is said and done, she never met Tookie, for all she knows Tookie was made up by the news or MGM Studios or might have been real, Tookie could be dead or alive and the impact would be the same, and the idea of his life or death is all just an abstract even now.

Odd that someone would sit up all night waiting on the death of an abstract. That's a flawed human.

7. It made me lose sleep. Now, country, are we better for this? I was
under the opinion that the death toll in Iraq was enough blood on our collective hands. I HATE truly that I get dragged into the common guilt over state sanctioned murder. This didn't do one damn thing but damn all of us. For shame.
