Looks like Romney is going run in 08

Romney portrayed himself as "a red speck in a blue state" during an October speech to a Washington think tank, one of many similar comments he has made that were seen as disparaging to heavily Democratic Massachusetts.

Should he run for president, he could find himself up against a pack of more prominent Republicans that may include Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record) of Arizona and former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

16. I live in Iowa
Vilsack is an ok governor. He is a centrist and is now the head of the DLC. I think that tells a lot about his politics. His main program is called the Iowa Values Fund, which hands out millions and millions of dollars to businesses. He calls it economic development, others call it coporate welfare. He has talked a good game on education, but teacher pay in Iowa has fallen after he got his bill passed to increase teacher pay.

I believe that Vilsack will be running in 08 and will win Iowa, but it will be closer than people think. If someone comes in and works hard, they could take Iowa.

5. So what happens when he gets his ass kicked in 2006 for governor
Him and Santorum should both step down at the end of their terms so they aren't humilated in 2006

15. I just saw the news - good, we'll get Massachusetts back
I know that the only governor who can affect me is my own here in Delaware. But I also believe that the governors are the last chance protection should RoeVWade be overturned and other hotpoint issues go to "State's Right".

This is also why I want Bob Casey Jr to replace Santorum as a senator. If he doesn't win in 2006 he will be governor and he is pretty pro-life (but then again so his Harry Reid).

11. You got it. If he gets the GOP nod in '08, they're finished.
Therefore, I hope he does get the nomination.

Adios, Willard.

12. I actually don't think he will get the nomination because of his religion
Edited on Wed Dec-14-05 03:30 PM by Douglas Carpenter
That might sound strange since fundamentalist Protestants and conservative Mormons agree on most social issues. But, as wacky as it sounds, most fundamentalist Protestants consider Mormonism to be almost a satanic cult. I know that's weird. But that is how most of them think.

My guess is that John McCain is their most likely nominee. Even though to many right-wingers he is the Lieberman of the Republican Party, he still has high ratings from groups like the Christian Coalition and the Family Research Council. I suspect he will find a way to make amends with them and the most of the others of the hard right.

I suspect McCain will not be easy to beat. Even though his actual record is almost stridently right-wing, he is widely perceived to be reasonable, moderate and bipartisan. In politics perception is more important than reality most of the time.

14. McCain is going no where, once again.
Neither side likes him much. The extreme RW has already come out pummeling him. Nothing like getting SwiftBoated by your own party, as long as it's the right wing eating their young............ 8>)

Edwards probably wouldn't win North Carolina. There are some states that aren't going to flip.
