Help! AP article on NSA spying changing before my eyes.

I was about to make a post noting that finally some conservative right leaders that have respect for civil liberties were making a stand against the NSA domestic spying news.

An NRA board member was complaining about the action and it was in the AP / Yahoo new article listed below.

But suddenly it's gone. Anyone have the original? What do you make of this?

1. The Ministry of Truth will take care of this.

You can just forget about what you never saw, citizen.

Move along now. There never was anything to see here.

Why don't you go out and check to see if your state is still flat.

There is nothing to see here.

Oh, by the way, Big BushCo loves you.

2. Here is a link to the AP story
http://www.gazetteextra.com/feingold_patroit121605.asp

Feingold finds himself with some unlikely allies, including the Christian Defense Coalition. Notably, the National Rifle Association has not endorsed the Patriot Act renewal that was personally negotiated by Vice President Dick Cheney. The NRA's non-position allows its Senate supporters to oppose renewing the law in its entirety.

"Folks, when we're dealing with civil liberties, you don't compromise them," said Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, an NRA board member.

Then we can count on him to oppose the Enabling Act too.

5. Most gun owners I know are VEHEMENTLY against the Patriot Act...
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 11:28 AM by benEzra
for example, this thread from the High Road gun board (no trolls, please):

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=171261

I should point out that rick_reno is being sarcastic in that thread, as he states elsewhere. I didn't see a single post supporting the Act, and a lot that referred to it "shredding the Bill of Rights." There is almost complete unanimity against it, even though there are plenty of Repubs on THR as well as indies and Dems.

Most gunnies, including myself, are pro-civil-liberties in general, and the whole trash-the-4th-amendment thing is as offensive as trashing the 2nd, even if it affects us less directly...

Go Feingold!!!
