1. What do you mean, " it's gone"?
I apparently missed something very important today. Please share the update.:scared:

4. The Last Show was this Morning......
Morning Sedition is No Longer on. Marc Maron is gone, Mark Riley will stay and have a 2 hour show and Rachel Maddow will have a 2 hour show.

16. I was off today and usually listen
in the car on the way to work. I knew Marc Maron was leaving for comedy but assumed Mark Riley would run the show........I still have Sirius in the car too so I switch around catching AA on a local radio and stream at the office.

5. Morning Sedition
Morning Sedition was one of my favorites. Going to miss that show. Whomever is responcible for that move should be fired! If they had to remove a show, they should have removed Springer. Randi Rhode and Mike Malloy are my other favorites.

8. Still negotiating with him?
The web site said they were negotiating with Marc to have a syndicated weekly show from LA. Is that still happening?

17. Springer is weak. I tried to support him but he is just weak.
I put him in the same category as Lynn Samuels.

22. I agree
Every once in awhile he wanders off into doing a show that sounds like his TV show. And he never SAYS anything.

27. You're so right.
I finally got off dial-up and on DSL so I could listen to AAR, and my listening time is dominated by this publicity hound.

30. Good thing they didn't move him to the morning ...

If I woke up to Springer, he would lull me straight back to sleep that would last the entire day.

I think Springer is an intelligent, kind human being. But he is not a very good entertainer. The only reason his TV show works is that he is cast as the straight man amongst insane, outrageous guests.

7. I'll miss it
That was a good show. Loved the Ignore-guration Day special. Both of the hosts were very funny and the guests were usually pretty weird. It was a good start to the day and I am sad to see it go.

:(

13. I have only caught tidbits...
...but apparently ONE person (at the top) wanted him gone and that is why his contract wasn't renewed. He apparently made someone 'angry' over content. The group as a whole were so talented...they have made a huge mistake, I think. And I am SO sad...:(

20. Maron is great but
doubling Maddow's airtime is a very good thing for AAR.

I think he'll do something really great on a weekly basis...that's what i've heard he wants anyway.

12. I couldnt listen this past month
I loved that show, and soon as it seemed like a done deal, I had to stop listening.

:toast: To Marc Maron, and here's hoping the syndication deal goes through!

18. I listened this AM with tears in my eyes. It was a GREAT show.
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 08:08 PM by BrklynLiberal
Marc and Mark had a terrific chemistry, and the comedy writing was incredible. It compared favorably to Firesign Theater.
I used to set my alarm to get up at 6AM to listen even tho I did not have to get up unti 8:30 to get to work.
I think it was a horrible mistake to break up that group. The shows since the announcement of Marc's departure have been exceptional. The list of people who have been calling and appearing on the show to voice their sadness and disappointment at its demise has been a vertible Who's Who of progressive personalities. Cindy Sheehan called this morning to say how sorry she was that the show was being taken away from us.
Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon have been on. There were many other well known political writers and notables. Of course, none of the names come to me right now.
There have been calls from fans from all over the world. People who got up at 3 in the morning to listen. There were fans from Australia and Hong Kong!!
This show was NOT cancelled due to a lack of fan support, It was the stupid decision of one hardassed idiot who had the power to do it, and just did it.

23. I cried during the last five minutes
And then I thought, "What the heck. It's a radio show." But it was more than that. It was a lifeline during the time it was on. Beginning each morning laughing with Morning Sedition is one of the things that kept me from getting too depressed.

29. Well, I look at it this way (dunno if this is semi-Zen)...
I was totally disheartened when the UAW pulled the plug on ieAmericaRadio.com. Then, not too much later, Air America Radio was born (and it wasn't restricted to the computer either!).

Morning Sedition will be missed but then again, who knows, maybe the M&M will end up with a bigger gig somewhere else. One never knows...
