This is not about spying and terrorists.
Too many people I talk to defend the need to catch terrorists as justifying the President's actions. This is not about the need to catch terrorists. This is about whether the President has the right to break the law and supersede our nation's proud tradition of check in balances in government.

The reason we have these checks and balances is to insure that the spying is about terrorism and not for another agenda.

Our laws require that our President follow a procedure. Our King decided he was above the law and above the people he serves.

Why is congress tip-toeing around this?

They are afraid of what this sneaky administration might have on them.

Same with the profit driven media.

It's up to the people to demand accountability from our government.

As we are doing here and all over the internet. We can not let this be ignored. America has been hijacked.

2. It's heartbreaking to watch this worthless man destroy our nation.

But what can we do?

Call our Representatives? Like my Bushbot Rep Deborah Pryce? She's totally loyal to the Monster.

Post to DU? Feels good, but what changes?

Vote on the "MSNBC Question of the Day"? Again, what changes?

Wear orange? Please.

I personally have never before felt this helpless in the face of vile, obvious evil which is nonetheless supported by members of the public and by the Republican majority in every branch of government.

I feel trapped in this awful nightmare, and I HATE IT.

4. I literally cried last night.
I was so angry and scared that I cried.

My son is half Arabic. Granted, he was born in this country and is a top student, but I actually fear this administration will round him up like in The Siege or like it did to Japanese-Americans during WWII.

I also worry about becoming increasingly poor and not able to provide for my son. I'm getting married in three weeks and he makes a good living - I have a college degree and make peanuts - but with the cost of education and to feed, house and clothe my family - not to mention the fact this administration is doing NOTHING to help this country get off oil: it's all too much.

My fiance, who is of Jewish heritage, knows exactly how I feel. The pangs of what Hitler did to his ancestors make it easy for him to see what BushCo. is becoming.

I don't know what else to do. I've worked for candidates. I try to educate the sheeple. But, short of buying my ink in 50-gallon drums, my efforts seem miniscule.

3. Don't forget J. Edgar Hoover...
...his empire was built on the muck he uprooted about elected politicians.

Anyone think Rove is above that?

5. I think their objective has been to turn back the clock....
I was a child during the 1950's, but I remember the Red Scare and McCarthyism. I remember when the "war" on communism was never questioned and our civil liberties were thought to be expendable in a time of "war". When citizens were spying on citizens, Americans kept quiet. I do think they're trying to return us to that time. I've read articles about Bush when he was young and how he hated the anti-war protestors of the Vietnam war. He's trying to live out a fantasy.
