"The best Bush can hope for is a 49% approval rating..."
Andrea Mitchell was on MSNBC earlier tonight, marveling at how Bush has "risen 7 points in the polls," and attributed it to his non-stop Iraq "stay the course" speeches.

She was talking with Tony Blankley (the guy Chris Matthews shared his "Bush glimmers with a kind of sunny nobility" fantasy with) and the two of them came to the conclusion that the best Bush can hope for, with his rising and falling numbers, is a solid 49%...

So my question is with the growing cries for impeachment and Bush's unapologetic admission that he exceeded his powers and spied on thousands of Americans, who thinks he's going to land at 49% and stay there (other than Andrea and Tony)?????

2. I don't believe these polls.
He slowly falls and then suddenly in one week he rises 10 points. I don't think so.

3. Blankley. What a freakin' joke. The McLaughlin Group needs to "86" him.

6. I find 49% rather unlikely.
I listened to Shields and Brooks on the Newshour tonight and it wasn't pretty for Bush. What impressed me was Mark Shields implying that Bush's credibility was spent and according to David Brooks, many Republicans are having a difficult time dealing with Bush's actions.

I just hope the Republicans circle their wagons and leave Bush (and Cheney) on the outside. :)

was taken after his speech last night....he read over his speech for the press after his televised speech so that they could take pictures of him looking very sure of himself....
