Forget these BS polls...Bush's new problem
Energy prices. Today, no fewer than 5 people complained to me about the cost of their home heating bills. The first bills of the winter are now in and people are noticing a $100 to $200 increase from last year (per month).

The Christmas sales will tell another story. I just have this gut feeling that people won't spend as much as they did a year ago. If they don't, then we will be seeing the immediate effects of the rising energy prices.

Finally, gas prices are rising yet again, after giving up most of the post-Katrina run-ups.

These are economic issues people understand and care about.

So who gives a shit about the Washington Post polls (I agree it's a BS poll anyway) - Bush is probably in the 40% to 42% range realistically, no matter what the shills say. The next few weeks may probably bring him back into the 30's.

1. You should see our electric bill - and we heat with gas
Our neighborhood has literally gone dark with people shutting off their outdoor lighting. Xmas lights are off very early if people even bothered to put them up.

Just the way the Bush Administration likes it... Dark. Evil, like fungus, grows best in the dark.

3. The lights are on in my neighborhood
With brightly lit figures in front yards. Sleighs with reindeer, crosses, Santa, etc. I'm surrounded by red voters who live in denial. The entire district received a letter from So. Cal Edison last week announcing rate hikes for the new year.
They took the gasoline price hikes like true patriots and filled up their SUVs. They'll have to work harder and longer to pay the increasing bills.
