My friend had the CIA coming back from Italy to London , tagged her bag.
It is opened by the CIA.

My friend who is The California Democratic Party Latino Chair went to Italy with 4 girlfriends on a vacation to Italy for 2 weeks.
When she got her bag back from Italy in London on the way to the hotel they noticed her bag has a sticker
that said it was inspected by the CIA,
none of the other girlfriends had such sticker, for they are not political.

I will post a photo of the sticker hopefully tomorrow.
She thought it was a normal thing since she hasn't been out of the country for 15 years.
I was shocked when she told me the story.

On note, she has lived in this small town for the last 20 years raising
her children and just recently in the last 7 years
got political, locally and then in 99 statewide.

1. This doesn't sound good!
Sure sounds like pure harassment of those whose political views differ from the Booshbots. I can't wait to hear the whole story (assuming it comes to light).

6. nope. The CIA doesn't leave notes behind

your friend's bag was inspected by the TSA (Transportation Security Administration.) while bag checks are as old as flying, it is new that they feel compelled to notify you. the letter looks like this:

they also secured a plastic tie to the outside, to show that the bag had been inspected. It happens to me all the time. Of course, that's because I usually use National Airport, and I usually pay cash.

on edit, I notice that this was internal EU only, which rules out TSA,Did your friend, by any chance, fly out of Rome? Where the letter code for Ciampano International Airport just happens to be...CIA?

14. Last time I flew, I got one of those. & they stole my Dr Marten Mary Janes
Seriously. I had a pair of classic DM MJs in the bag when I packed it and they were missing when I got to Denver. (The old skool style, beloved of punk and goth girls everywhere...)

TSA of course refused to believe that someone stole such things, but I know better - those were rare shoes.

I don't fly anymore.

10. I have at least three similar stories of close friends who are politically
active who travel alot and have been searched and questioned numerous times to where it has lost any coincidental possibility for them. They too have had initials marked on their tickets and stickers placed on their bags.

15. The CIA is forbidden to target US Citizens
I'm sure it was a joke. If they did, she would never know they had.

16. Like that stops them???
If NSA, FBI, and DIA are all taking advantage of the fact that this misadministration is perfectly kosher with illegal spying, I'm certain that CIA is not sitting on their hands like good little civil servants. All the cobwebbing in the world won't keep them on their best behaviour.

18. To me this just sounds a little silly, time for the tinfoil hats
The idea that the CIA would single out a traveller for a bag inspection (with that person not present) due to that person's politics and then leave a note saying they did so just doesn't pass the smell test.

I can buy the CIA doing warrantless, secret searches. I can even buy the CIA targeting individuals because of political leanings. I can't buy them doing it and leaving a calling card behind.

21. My friends in the Netherlands sent me a pair of decorative clogs a couple
of months ago.

The box had been opened..a big green swathe of tape with the "US Dept. of Homeland Security" emblem emblazoned on it resealed the box...also said "Examined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection."

While I'm sure Customs has always opened things, the emblem with that eagle really freaked me out.

Can't machines screen wooden clogs??
